Big Blue North is a recording studio with a residence located in a small city nestled at the foothills of the scenic Adirondack Mountains in central New York State. The building started its life in 1926 as the Church of the Nazarene. In 2001 it underwent 2 1/2 years of painstaking restoration, resulting in a great-sounding space that is a balance of historical integrity and modern convenience. Fro

m the John Storyk designed control room to the 32 channel Rupert Neve Designs 5088 analogue console to the 1,700 square foot live room with 35-foot wood ceilings, Big Blue North is a "sound hotel" for producers, engineers and musicians of all styles. Our services include:

* Professional audio recording, editing and mixing

* Music production (sourcing session musicians, preproduction, song writing, arranging, re-amping, budget and fundraising advice, logistics etc.)

* MIDI composition, programming and editing

* Audio for advertising, radio production, voice-overs and audio books

* Limited post-production for film and TV, scoring, mixing and sound design

* Remote mixing and monitoring via our dedicated full duplex fiber optic internet connection

What a vibe at 315 Uncovered Festival this weekend! There is so much fantastic original music happening around here. Such a treat to see it all in one place, especially since we have had the honor of recording so many of these folks and get to call them family. Can't wait for next year.

Bernard "Pretty" Purdie bringing his Purdie Shuffle to town — a half-time shuffle beat with intricate ghosting. Bernard recorded it on some of the biggest hits of all time and it directly inspired some of the biggest songs in rock history (including Jeff Porcaro's beat on Toto's "Rosanna", John Bonham's groove on Led Zeppelin's "Fool in the Rain" and Stewart Copeland's feel on Walking on the Moon").

Happy New Release Day to Maybe Sunday! Their new album ‘Somewhere In Time’ is available wherever you stream music. If you’re into 80s and 90s indie influenced rock, you’re gonna eat it up with a spoon.

This is the third project we have done with these talented folks and it’s always good stuff. Because they’re also spectacular people, they founded and host the 315 Uncovered Festival which showcases some of the best local original musicians around.
