What is the microcosmic festival?
The Microcosmic Festival is a grassroots movement that is inspired by the idea that a small collective of people can make a big difference. The goal of the festival is to spotlight local businesses, artists and musicians.
Festival organizer Paul Crowther said, “It is beyond building isolated communities of artists and musicians, or a community of businesses, but rather building a community of family and friends that support one another. For example, all nine of the musical acts performing have donated their time, their brand and their talent for this cause. And of course, we are very thankful to the Polish Community Club for hosting the event.”
Musical performers appearing include: Wreaths (Asbury Park, NJ), The Flashing Astonishers (Syracuse) and Utica bands Bad Cello, Bangquest, Comfy, The Fig Mints, The Rusty Doves and Twin Speak. Top local DJ Thomas D will also be spinning an eclectic mix of forward thinking funk and soul.
The festival’s presenting sponsor is Big Blue North Recording Studio in Utica. Many of the bands that are performing can be found on the studio’s local music compilation entitled “Interesting Selection: volume 1” which can be downloaded in its entirety for free at the studio’s website www.BigBlueNorth.com. Other sponsors include The Dev Bar & Grill and Sovereign Upstate Skate Shop.
