Lifeguard Myths ❌
Myth: It's the easiest job ever, I just hang out at the pool with friends and work on my tan.
Fact: Lifeguarding is a high-responsibility role. It can be incredibly rewarding, but also challenging and dangerous if you don’t fully understand the risks involved.
Myth: Nothing bad has ever happened here.
Fact: Past incidents are irrelevant, every moment requires vigilance and preparedness.
Myth: Drowning is easy to spot.
Fact: Drowning is often difficult to detect, as it can happen quickly and silently.
Myth: I'll be constantly making rescues.
Fact: The majority of your time will be spent observing for signs of distress, preventing accidents, and enforcing safety rules.
As lifeguards, it's essential that we approach the job with the right mindset.
