We had the AWESOME privilege of having Jonathan Butler Duplessis from the current Broadway cast of Hamilton come and visit our classroom today. He sang for the kids, answered questions, and even listened to a few UHS choir students, providing valuable feedback as someone who actually is in the room where it happens.

Dear VCR friends,

In January 2025, choir boosters purchased a small mic system for a ca****la. It's made a huge difference for our singers, and we've been interested in upgrading in a big way so that all of our singers can rehearse regularly with mics and perform locally with the new sound system.

The system we've been dreaming of is available at a discount right now, and we have been working to raise money toward these mics, which cost $7200. We're so proud that the singers themselves have raised $1300 this season from caroling and singing gigs, and with the donations we've already received, we are only $900 from getting our new mics!

Will you join me in contributing toward the purchase of this equipment? If we can raise the final $900, Ms. Park can pick the mics up next week. This is a great moment to reach out to grandparents or other loved ones who might consider donating.

This year’s Chicago trip was a success and so much fun! We also promise there was some singing in there-we just couldn’t take pictures of ourselves singing.

Next on the agenda: some final caroling dates at Lincoln square mall tomorrow and next Saturday as well as getting ready for competition!

CONGRATULATIONS to our Urbana High School Students who have been selected to participate in the 2026 Illinois Music Education Association All-State Festival in Peoria on January 29-31, 2026!

These students were selected from thousands of auditioning high school musicians across nine districts in the state. This is the highest honor for student musicians in the State of Illinois.

EVERYONE is invited, but we ESPECIALLY hope to see our UHS Choir alumni at our upcoming Winter Choir Concert! It will take place on Tuesday, 12/9/25 at 7PM in the UHS Theatre. We hope to see you there!
