We’ll be closed on Friday for the NATIONWIDE SHUTDOWN.

We’re small and technically can not afford to close our doors but we just couldn’t sit this one out. We’re sad and infuriated by the current state of things and know many of you are feeling the same.

It’s rough for small businesses these days (as many of you are well aware)! After Friday don’t forget to vote with your dollars, keep ‘em local & pay with cash when you can!

📢 Upcoming at Art Coop! We have a few events coming up in the Art Coop Gallery led by artist and teacher Satomi Kamei, the curator of our current gallery show titled Carrying on Shozo-sensei’s Teachings: An exhibition honoring his legacy.

🖋️ Demonstration + Mini Trial
Sunday, Nov 9 | 1:00–4:00 PM
Anyone interested in calligraphy or sumi-e (ink painting), come join us!

🎨 Workshop
Tuesday, Nov 11

Calligraphy: 1:00–2:15 PM
Limited to 4 participants.

Sumi-e (Ink Painting): 3:00–4:15 PM
Limited to 4 participants.

Calligraphy Theme: 「一期一会」Ichigo Ichie — “One time, one meeting.” A reminder to treasure each encounter as a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Sumi-e Theme: The Four Gentlemen — Paint one of four symbolic plants (plum, orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum), each representing a noble virtue.

Please send an e-mail to [email protected] to reserve a spot in the Calligraphy and/or Sumi-e workshop! We will then connect you with the instructor if you have any questions. Everything you need will be provided, no need to bring your own materials!

We are very honored to host “Carrying on Shozo Sato-sensei’s Teachings: An exhibition honoring his legacy”. Sato’s impact continues beyond his life through those he guided. This show was lovingly curated and features work by Satomi Kamei and her students.

This beautiful show will be up through November 17th. Don’t miss it!
