My interest in recording music goes back to the mid 1970’s when my friends and I would have jam sessions at each others homes. Often times we captured the audio on a single cassette recorder placed in the same room or even “down the hallway”. Needless to say, pretty low quality fidelity, but it did capture the good times we had as teenagers and young adults. Around Thanksgiving time in 1978 after
we had all graduated from high school, our 3 piece band, Rocker, recorded some original songs in my parent’s basement by setting up an elaborate cassette tape ping-ponging system. Roughly 10 years after that, we regrouped again even though life events were really at a quickened pace. We rented a fairly high end multi-tracker cassette recorder and again recorded some original tunes. That was pretty much the end of us recording our songs until I retired, moved back to where we grew up and built a small recording studio in the basement. It was completed and opened in the fall of 2017 and we got to work on some original material again. As of the summer of 2019, we’ve produced 2 full length CD albums. Along the way I’ve also done some recording for a local winery business and another good friend who has had some original material bottling up over the last 40 years. Fun times. Since we didn’t have the equipment back in the day, I’d be interested in helping some young solo artists or bands in the high school or college age gets started by cutting some demo material. If nothing else, they can share the tunes with their grand kids 60 years from now!
