WOW: "In his debut season at Pleasant Acres Stallions in Morriston, Fla., Gulfport covered 167 mares, which was the most by a non-Kentucky sire in 2026, the 11th most among all North American first-year sires, and the 38th most of all North American sires, regardless of experience and location."
He entered the fold at Pleasant Acres after four seasons on the racetrack, with his strongest year coming during his juvenile campaign. After winning on debut by seven lengths, Gulfport was even more dominant in the listed Bashford Manor Stakes, leading at every point of call and stretching out to win by 12 1/4 lengths. Later that summer, he earned graded placings in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes, G1 Ch*****ne Stakes, and the G2 Saratoga Special Stakes.
As the heart of the 2-year-old auction market, where juveniles must show the precocity to stand out during the spring’s under-tack shows, the Florida market can put a premium on a stallion with prior form of high-level performance in the earliest months of the 2-year-old racing calendar. Gulfport is further helped by his sire, Uncle Mo, one of the most proven sire-of-sires in the modern stud book who set a record for freshman-sired earnings with his debut crop. That has been proven out by Nyquist, a son of Uncle Mo who was a champion 2-year-old that became the leading freshman sire of his class when he was retired to stud.
Furthermore, Gulfport’s dam, the winning Unbridled’s Song mare Fame and Fortune, is a full-sister to Grade 1 winner Cross Traffic, who was the leading freshman sire of 2018, led by Eclipse Award winner Jaywalk.
Gulfport is a 6-year-old son of Uncle Mo who stood his debut season for an advertised fee of $7,500.
