Happy Pollinator Week! Did you know that one out of every three bites of food we eat exists thanks to pollinators? Pollinators contribute to a variety of crops, including apples, strawberries, potatoes, chocolate, and coffee.

Pollinators face many threats, including pollution, habitat loss, and disease, just to name a few. There also aren't enough pollinator-friendly plants to accommodate pollinators. That's where we can get involved!

The USDA's Pollinator Partnership offers planting guides tailored to your personal zip code. Get involved by viewing your personalized guide and planting pollinator-friendly plants at the link: https://bit.ly/4nxGJ8n

We're stretching out to say, it's World Giraffe Day! 🦒

On the longest day of the year, we're recognizing the 140,000 giraffe remaining in the wild and how critical it is to be aware of the challenges they face.

Did you know that there are four different species of giraffe, all with unique features?
🧡 Northern Giraffe: There are only about 7,000 left in the wild.
🧡 Southern Giraffe: There are over 68,000 in the wild.
🧡 Masai Giraffe: There are around 43,000 in the wild.
🧡 Reticulated Giraffe: There are around 20,000 left in the wild.

Our resident giraffes at Georgia Safari are Reticulated. Classified as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, it is imperative that we collectively work together to help protect giraffes from the various threats they face, including climate change and trophy hunting.

On International Ungulate Awareness Day, we want to highlight our incredible Animal Care Team that ensures our ungulates receive top-notch hoof care.

The term "ungulate" refers to mammals with hooves, many of whom call Georgia Safari home. Ungulates you may have seen on a past safari adventure include Bison, Giraffe, Lechwe, Rhino, and Zebra.

Similar to human fingernails, ungulate hooves continuously grow, which requires that they be cared for often to protect their quality of life and well-being. As an American Humane Certified zoological facility, Georgia Safari provides stellar care to our diverse population of ungulates, tailored to their specific needs. Stop by the Safari to see how many Ungulates you can spot!

June is Zoo & Aquarium Month! This month commemorates the role zoos and aquariums around the world play in conversation, education, recreation, and research.

Georgia Safari was developed to encourage responsible tourism practices while building a regional zoological culture devoted to the conservation of threatened and endangered wildlife. As we celebrate our second anniversary, we recognize this wouldn't be possible without our incredible teams across Animal Care, Education, Guest Services, Safety & Security, and Sales. Help us recognize our incredible team members and celebrate them all month long! ✨

From the Bayou State to the Peach State...meet the newest hooves on the block at Georgia Safari, Frannie! Frannie, a 1.5 year old Reticulated Giraffe, joins us from Global Wildlife Center in Folsom, Louisiana.

Born on September 10, 2024, Frannie was named after Hurricane Francine, which made landfall in Louisiana just one day after her birth. Her personality starkly contrasts the origin of her name - she is described as curious, social, engaging, and creative. Her great-grandmother, Kameel, the matriarch of Global Wildlife Center's giraffe tower, is believed to be the second-oldest giraffe in North America at 33 years old.

Frannie is acclimating well as she trades Mardi Gras beads and gumbo for peaches and golf. She fits right in with Georgia Safari's giraffe tower, and we cannot wait to watch her grow. 🧡🦒
