During my four years away from ceramics, I dealt with many very difficult life situations such as the death of my mom. Being back in the studio these last 7 months have reminded me how much I love having something like this. Ceramics has always been something that felt grounding in times of chaos. When life gets challenging and feels out of control, this gives me something to focus on. And the Red Kiln always provides a warm space for me to exist - on good days and bad.

“Humans have always told stories.”

The Book Fairies are sharing copies of Frightful Folklore of North America by Mike Bass around the UK and the USA! This book is out TODAY!

Who will be lucky enough to spot one?

About the book:

Discover the original folk horror of North America: over 100 of the most terrifying legends and gruesome folklore that emerged over the centuries in response to this wild continent’s harsh and awesome landscapes and often tragic history. Read about:

Qallupilluit of Nunavut: This green, scaly, web-handed sea-monster hunts along the ice floes, kidnapping children that wander too close to the water.

La Corriveau of Quebec: A woman hanged for murder and witchcraft runs through the night in her gibbet chasing her victims.

Sasquatch of the Pacific Northwest: The Wild Man of America, who has been spotted throughout history.

And many, many more … Each chill-inducing tale is illustrated with a spectacular linocut-style artwork. From Greenland to Mexico and from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast, this collection embodies the unique melting pot of American cultural heritage, alongside monsters, cryptids, spirits and ghosts of the most horrific sort.
