Final Fantasy has Chocobos. Star Wars has Tauntauns. The moment you see one, you know what world you’re in.

That’s what I want for Aether Circuits.

I could just use horses, giant birds, or another familiar fantasy mount, but AC deserves something that reflects the setting itself: weird, lovable, a little punk, and absolutely capable of charging headfirst into a battlefield.

So I started playing with the idea of an agile combat bovine.

Part Highland cow. Part warhorse. Part mountain goat. Engineered by mad scientist to be fast, sure-footed, and surprisingly dangerous. Big horns, shaggy coats, specialized breeds, battle armor, and enough personality that riders become genuinely attached to them.

And, naturally, somebody in this world was eventually going to breed an emo Highland cow.

I think we may have found Aether Circuits' signature mount.

Now it just needs a name....

Meet the leaders of the Free Cities Union.

President Evelyn “Evie” Veyra represents everything the Union claims to stand for: independence, self-expression, and the radical idea that your birth should never determine your place in the world.

An elven stateswoman with punk-rock attitude, Evie pairs the sharp tailoring of the old 1920s republics with the rebellious style of the Free Cities. She has built her political career navigating a nation where corporations, unions, street movements, inventors, mercenaries, and ordinary citizens all fight to make their voices heard.

Standing behind her is Garrick Voss, an Orc veteran and head of the Presidential Protection Detail.

Tailored suit. Dark glasses. Two pistols riding openly beneath his coat.

Voss doesn't make speeches.

He makes sure the President survives long enough to finish hers.

Together, they represent the beautiful contradiction at the heart of the Free Cities Union: polished enough to sit at the diplomatic table, punk enough to flip it over when necessary.

Aether Circuits Character Reveal: Leaders of the Athenium Republic

Knowledge is power, but even the greatest ideas need someone willing to defend them.

Meet First Archon Dorian Lysandros and Grand Strategos Asha Devi Varma, the two figures guiding the Athenium Republic into an uncertain future.

Dorian Lysandros is an elven philosopher, statesman, and scholar whose belief in reason, education, and open debate embodies the ideals of Athenium. Equal parts professor, politician, and punk intellectual, Dorian believes the Republic's greatest weapon isn't its army. It's its ability to create new ideas.

Asha Devi Varma is a Half-Angel strategist and commander who serves as Dorian's counterbalance. Where Dorian sees what the world could become, Asha calculates what must be done to get it there. Disciplined, pragmatic, and fiercely protective of the Republic, she knows that ideals mean very little if you aren't prepared to defend them.

Together, they represent the two halves of the Athenium philosophy:

I'm excited to finally reveal the artwork for these two and continue showing off the cultures, characters, and factions of Aether Circuits.

Meet the leaders of the Wu Zhengsu Empire.

Emperor-Captain Jian “Stormclaw” Zheng looks less like an emperor who became a pirate and more like a pirate who accidentally conquered an empire.

Boisterous, reckless, and larger than life, the Tigerfolk Grand Admiral leads from the front, takes impossible risks, and has probably started at least one war because someone told him something couldn't be done.

Standing beside him is Chancellor Lin Meiying.

Officially, she is Stormclaw's second-in-command.

Unofficially, she is the reason the Wu Zhengsu Empire still exists.

While Jian is challenging rival admirals to duels and announcing impossible expeditions from the top of a table, Meiying is quietly managing the fleets, trade routes, intelligence networks, treasury, diplomacy, and the mountain of paperwork created by whatever her emperor just did.
