Mon brings Labor Day and the unofficial first day of fall! The autumn equinox is just over two weeks away. We found signs of the changing season in this biweekly coffee walk (which mostly revisits a coffee walk from this time two years ago).

We're back in our home neighborhood in Winston-Salem. We walked around Innovation Quarter, took a walk along the Long Branch Trail, and finished up back at the stacks near DeBeen WS.

Our drink of choice was an iced butterscotch (we see you, The Vampire Lestat fans) latte with whole milk. Delicious!

Along the Long Branch Trail, we looked for signs of early fall color along with late summer flowers. We saw colorful murals, views of the Downtown Winston-Salem skyline, and caught an amazing solar flare, beaming down to the iconic Plant 64 water tower. We always enjoy the view from the bridge over Fifth Street, looking toward DeBeen and Link IQ.

Walking, jogging, strolling, cycling along the Long Branch Trail and through Bailey Park is easy for most people. There are benches to relax. Accessibility accomodations, scooters, bathrooms, water fountains, and doggy bags are among the amenities.

Come see us at DeBeen, catty-corner from the park on Fifth! We're open on Sept 7, Labor Day, until 8 pm!

This month's bookclub meeting at DeBeen HP comes late this time! It's because Labor Day arrives late, and the bookclub meets on the second Mon of each month.

Join us on Mon, Sept 14, at 6 pm! The title is Cemetery Boys, a young adult novel by Aiden Thomas. Still plenty of time to read the debut novel, published last summer, before the meeting in two weeks.

Ramsey says, "I had 2% milk with the iced latte, since that’s my go-to. It was amazing!

"I tend to roll the dice on the specials menu, and always end up hitting the jackpot." Ramsey rated his Toasty Ghosty a 100 out of 10!

"I also had to get the only maroon shirt because I couldn't help myself. I've been wanting a piece of merch for so long and plan on getting more. That maroon color was calling my name!"
