This is one of those stories that I'd like to expand upon, but it would require going back and writing quite a lot to catch up to this point. Still, "Sacrifice" is fine on its own. What do you think?

"Walk Away" is a very personal story for me. There are many paths we all choose to take in life, and some are ones we are proud of while others are ones we regret. The path with an uncertain destination is sometimes the most tempting and yet also the one we are most afraid of, and some of those paths are rightly avoided.

It was early in the day and yet the heat from the sun was already growing intense. The shade from the trees along the narrow hiking path looked inviting, but as he stood there, Kelic could only thi…

There's always a risk involved with any experiment. There's also significant lengths people and governments will go to in order to spy on one another. Combine the two and it can make for some interesting, and problematic, situations.

History is replete with examples of people justifying terrible things in the name of bettering their own lives. What lengths will certain people go to in order to get what they want? What do you do when you're caught in the middle of it?

(Photo by David Bartus) “Look out there and tell me what you see.” Cobb’s voice was deep but not too loud. Even in the dead of winter there was the chance of waking them up and then there& #82…

A number of people have theorized that the Uncanny Valley effect comes from a time in humanities past when there were other creatures who looked similar to humans but were not actually humans. Were those other beings just different human-type creatures like neanderthals? Whatever the reason and the source, there are countless myths dealing with this idea of people who aren't people but are in fact some imposter.

Big life changes can be both harder on and easier for children to process. They often have no bearing for how to interpret their experiences and need someone to help them through it. "To Grandmother's House We Go" is all about a young child needing some help through big feelings and finding it in his caring family.

(Photo by Los Mu***os Crew) “Over the river and through the woods,” Sani sang quietly to himself in the backseat of his family’s car, “to grandmother’s house we go.” His mom hummed alon…

Sorry, no new story today but there will be one up on Friday. Last week and this week have been hectic but should be calming down and I'm getting back into my regular writing schedule.

I sometimes ask my family if they can guess the secret ingredient in a meal I've prepared. Always, the first guess is 'love', and they're always right. Though there might also be a tablespoon of chili flakes in there as well. That's where the inspiration for "From the Sky" came from.

It was a well established fact that the gods rarely chose a champion to represent them, perhaps once every few generations, but when they did they made their decisions with great care and deliberat…

Being a first adopter of any new technology comes with certain risks. The tech might malfunction, it might do things you don't expect, etc. With bio-tech and a.i. both becoming more common these days, I wonder what some of the consequences will be.

(Photo by Kevin Bidwell) Some ideas seem like they’re the greatest thing in the world right up until you act on it. Only then does the truth come out and you think you really should have seen…

Breaking down in the middle of nowhere during a road trip is already bad enough. What would you do if you found yourself in the same situation as Gary and Ben in "Reception"?

(Photo by ChrisF) Of all the times to have car troubles, it had to happen in the middle of the night during a winter storm. It was also in the middle of nowhere. “Well, we’re not going anywhe…

The slow fall of a character is a fascinating one. So many stories are triumphant but "Favors" takes a different direction. Do you have a favorite tragedy, be it a book, movie, or show?

If there was a more boring way to get through a work day than having to sit through yet another required meeting that didn’t pertain to her department, Katrina didn’t know what it was. …
