Forgotten in the Camera Roll: Season 55 Archives!

When your stage manager is changing your costume at warp speed, but you’re still committed to singing backup! It’s another look backstage at the Wizard of Oz- we are loving this series.

Forgotten in the Camera Roll: Season 55 Archives!

In today’s episode, here’s our SM Robby demonstrating the Wizard of Oz flash pot effect.

The flash pot is worn on an actors hand where they can easily reach the striker. It operates very much like a cigarette lighter, you put a piece of flash cotton into the flash pot, strike it with your thumb and a small flash of fire appears!

Theatre is equal parts storytelling, teamwork, and people backstage saying, “Okay… stand back for a second.”

This week’s Forgotten in the Camera Roll is for the theatre people.

What looks like a page full of scribbles is actually hours of storytelling, problem solving and character work from one of our directing students.

Every line, arrow, note, and highlight helped build an entire scene for Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom. Our students are truly incredible.

Zoom in. Seriously. Take a look at the work that we’re doing in the classroom and then join us this fall.

Four years ago, the president of ECC, Dr Bauer, asked if we could help launch confetti at the end of graduation.

We said…say less.

Now, shooting off confetti at the official East Central College graduation is one of our favorite traditions!

This year we had 16 of our family members helping out….plus a few new faces who joined us!!

Many thanks to everyone who helped us out today to coordinate making the end of graduation the most special experience!

This week’s Forgotten in the Camera Roll: Season 55 Archives takes us back to The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical -complete with a little in-house set setup and a rare sighting of our Technical Director Mike in his natural habitat.

Sometimes the magic happens onstage.

Sometimes it happens in the middle of the audience! Enjoy!

A little backstage magic from Oz!
Check back next Thursday, we will show you a glimpse of the previous season with a very special cameo…

Somehow this video never made it onto the internet during The Wizard of Oz season!

So welcome to:

Forgotten in the Camera Roll !

A summer series of all the backstage moments, videos, rehearsal clips, and chaos we never got around to posting.

Starting with a little ruby slipper magic courtesy of one of our amazing Munchkins.

Here, you can see Dorothy- played by Fiona -run around to a group of Munchkins while there is dialogue between Glinda and the wicked witch.

Seated behind the Munchkins is one of our oldest Munchkins, Adison. Adison quickly switches out the boots that Fiona is wearing for the Ruby slippers (the Fiona bedazzled herself!). The ruby slippers have what are known as quick rigs, which makes the shoe very easy to put on and off.

Just a little behind the scenes look at how we made the magic in Oz. Tune in next week for our next Forgotten in the Camera Roll!

Summers around here are a little quiet, but we want to make sure that we still keep you up-to-date on what’s going on, what’s ahead and share the many incredible moments that we have at ECC Theatre! So….

Welcome to Forgotten in the Camera Roll -a weekly series of backstage magic, rehearsal chaos, and tiny pieces of ECC Theatre history that almost stayed hidden on our phones forever.

The first sneak peek you’ll see is some backstage magic between Dorothy and the munchkin that helped her with her red slipper change, we will launch it tonight at 7 PM and you don’t want to miss it so be sure to check back!

From the haunting performances to the incredible scenic and lighting design, Neighbourhood 3: Requisition of Doom was truly a collaboration of so many talented artists.

Huge thank you to our amazing student directors, actors, designers, technicians, and to our photographer, Liberty Edwards, for capturing this production so beautifully.

And of course, thank YOU to our audiences for showing up in such a huge way to support our incredible students!
