It breaks my heart to do this, but I am going to have to cancel the fall/winter season of UtoPia dance. The current state of COVID-19 and the uncertainty involved with it, plus my own residual effects from it have prompted me to pull the plug on the fall/winter season -- but I'm hoping everything will have settled down so we can do something in the spring. I will void and rip up any checks that people wrote for classes and uniforms. If you know me, you know this is not an easy decision -- I'm all about "the show" and I teach classes more for me than for the kids! (It's my fun!) I'm so sorry -- I know the kiddos were looking forward to it, and so was I. Again -- maybe after New Years when the kiddos come back to school we can do a short season -- that's my hope!!! Thank you for your understanding -- let's hope 2021 is a much better year. Keep those kiddos dancing at home!! Music soothes even the most stressed soul!

NOTICE: This week's UtoPia dance classes will be held Thursday, Nov. 5 instead of Wednesday. I have an appointment I cannot change, so unfortunately I have to change our first classes to Thursday. Following are the times, which are the normal times: 3:15-3:45 -- Preschool 3:45-4:30 -- K-1
4:30-5:15 -- 2nd-3rd 5:15-6 pm -- 4th-6th
Please spread the word! We are still accepting new dancers, too, since we're just getting started!!

UtoPia Dance classes registration will be tomorrow after school in the commons area. I will be taking measurements and orders for uniforms. Uniforms do need to be paid for right away so they can be ordered and get here as soon as possible. We're not going to worry about tights and shoes tomorrow -- we've got time for those! However, if you have jazz shoes you would like to DONATE, feel free to bring them for someone else to take. We're going to do preschool registration from 3:15-3:45; K-1 from 3:45-4:30; 2nd and 3rd from 4:30-5:15 and the 4th through 6th from 5:15 to 6:00. I will also be at the school Thursday after school to register any of those who can't make it tomorrow, but I'll only be there 'til 4 p.m. If you have any questions, please text me or call me -- do not leave me a FB message -- I can't guarantee I'll see it. Yay! The uniform pictures are there! The turquoise one is for the K-1; the purplish one is for pre-school. The aqua is for 2nd and 3rd, and the black pants uniform is for the 4th through 6th-grade.

The three youngest groups will wear flesh-tone tights and the tan jazz shoes we've been wearing for years, so if you want to do some trading with friends who have grown out of their shoes, feel free. We will certainly be able to order new shoes, too! The oldest group will be wearing the black jazz shoes.

Registration is $10, and class fees will be $20 per month for preschool, $25 per month for K through 6th grade.
Class times will be -- Preschool 3:15-3:45; K-1 3:45-4:30; 2nd-3rd 4:30-5:30; 4th through 6th 5:30-6;30.

Dance classes are set to start Wed., Oct. 28 in the multipurpose room at the school. It's going to be a challenge, but we're going to go for it! I will be socially distancing the dancers by the grade levels as much as possible (kindergarten in one line, first-graders in their own line), but we're going to make it work! In order to get our uniforms ordered, I would like you to measure your dancer and contact me with the measurements. I'll need measurements of bust, waist, hips and girth (from one shoulder, down through the legs and back up to the shoulder). Another way to figure out the size is to check last year's size and go up if your daughter has grown! (NOT SSA . . . the bold-type size below that one) I DO have try-on uniforms, and if you feel comfortable having your dancer stop over for a try-on, we can do that. Just note -- I'm home quarantining because I've been near someone who MAY be positive (waiting for results).

I had my first dancer ask if we'll be having dance class this year. Yes, we will! If there's school, there will be dance classes, but we won't be starting until October -- pretty much the same schedule as last year -- Wednesdays after school in the multipurpose room. Spread the word! UtoPia dance classes will be starting soon!

The Comettes Show is this Sunday at 7 p.m., and the UtoPia dancers will be performing -- each group dancing twice. The 2nd through 5th-graders should be at the school by 5:30 for run-throughs; the Preschool through 1st-grade should be at the school by 6:30 for run-throughs. In case you didn't get the note from the 2nd through 5th-graders last night, they are having an extra practice today after school 'til 4:30 for whomever can make it. I'm still waiting for performance dates for the boys' tournament in Garrison -- options are next Saturday and the following Monday.

I've scheduled the Fun Size dancers to perform this Thursday at the District 10 tournament in Washburn, for the 7 p.m. game (Underwood plays the 5:30 game, so it's right after our girls play.) Please have your dancers at the Washburn High School by 6:45 p.m. if you're not there already for the Underwood game.
Reminder -- the Itty Bitty and Teeny Weeny dancers are scheduled to dance at the 6 p.m. game in Underwood tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Please have your dancer at UHS by 5:45.
