Jen's Full Interview Below:

✨ What's your theatre superpower?
Vocal flexibility in accents and dialects. I thoroughly enjoy doing different accents and voices.
✨ What's the coolest show you've ever worked on?
Jen Westfall's Dracula with OMT at the Egyptian Theatre in Ogden. Between the historic theatre, the sets, and the lighting, it is absolutely brilliant and gorgeous, and the cast is incredible. Speaking of which, we open this weekend!
💡 What advice would you give your high school self?
You are a lot cooler than you think! Believe in yourself and try to see the good that everybody else sees.
🐇 What skill will you help our cast level up?
Helping connect your brain, body, and voice, and then melting all of that together with storytelling. I also want to help the cast learn how to make the audience feel through the music.
🐾 What's something people might not know about you?
I used to be a bouncer at a ballet studio.
❤️ Why was Alice by Heart a show you wanted to be part of?
Because the production team is amazing! Being able to work with so many talented teens is such a joy and delight for me. The music is so unique to the show and such a beautiful way to tell the story.

MEET FRANCESCA!

We’re so excited to have Francesca on board as our Co-Director and Choreographer for Alice By Heart! Learn more about her, then enroll in the production!

Auditions are due SUNDAY, and you don’t want to miss this incredible opportunity! Visit zigarts.com/academy/prep-alice-by-heart for more audition info!

Francesca’s Full Interview Below:

🎭 What’s your theatre superpower?
Probably my ability to play multiple characters in one show, switching dialects, physicality, and energy on a dime! Bonus points if there are puppets involved. I love finding all the little details that make a character feel like a completely different human (or creature!).

✨ What’s the coolest show you’ve ever worked on?
Directing and choreographing Once with Savannah Rep, where I got to work with Grammy-nominated artist Stacie Orrico! Getting to bring that story to life through movement, music, and collaboration was such a special experience.

💡 What advice would you give your high school self?
Stop trying to be what you think people want to see in the audition room. Learn what makes you unique, understand what you bring into a room, and trust that your particular combination of skills is an asset. You don’t have to be everything to everyone to be an extraordinary artist.

🐇 What skill will you help our cast level up?
Physical storytelling! Alice by Heart takes us from the real world into Wonderland, and I want to help our cast embrace the wonderfully wacky, weird, and unexpected through their bodies. We’ll explore big physical choices, fearless commitment, and finding joy in the absurd. The golden rule? No self-judgment allowed. Stay curious!

🐾 What’s something people might not know about you?
I never used to be an animal person, but now I’m borderline obsessed with my pup, Hunter, a 14-year-old Husky/Greyhound mix. Not sure what she looks like? Imagine Scrat, the squirrel from Ice Age, but as a dog. You’re welcome.

❤️ Why was Alice by Heart a show you wanted to be part of?
I LOVE a good ensemble-driven show, and Alice by Heart is exactly that. I’m always excited by opportunities to fill a space with more bodies, more voices, and more layers of storytelling. This show invites us to build a whole world through imagination, movement, and collaboration, and I can’t wait to see what this group of artists creates together. Wonderland, here we come!

BIG CHANGES ARE COMING!

We're making a few changes to our Academy age groups to better align with students' grade levels, experience, and stages of development!

Our new program structure is:

- PREP: Grades 9 – 12 grade
- YOUTH: Grades 7 – 12 grade
- TEENS: Grades 7 – 9 grade
- KIDS: Grades 3 – 6 grade
- MINIS: Grades K – 2 grade

Now, you may be asking yourself "What is this new Teens group I see?" This new group is designed as a stepping stone for the summer between Kids and Youth, giving students in grades 7–9 a space to continue building their skills and confidence before moving into our Youth program.

With these changes, students can grow with the Academy through clearly defined age and grade-level groups, with programming designed to meet them where they are.
