Jets and helicopters aren’t the only ones commanding the skies in Tyler this weekend! 🐝 Head over to our Observation Beehive this weekend to see our resident honeybees up close, hard at work building comb and pollinating plants across the zoo! With wings beating 230 times per second, they’re like tiny helicopters to haul heavy loads of nectar back to the colony! 🚁 Make the hive a stop during your Weekend of Flight visit!

Who said all the best pilots have to fly in the air? When you think of Rose City Airfest's Weekend of Flight, African penguins probably aren't the first birds that come to mind. On land, they may look like a plane stuck taxiing on the tarmac. But the moment they hit the water, the physics change completely! They're the originators and masters of high-performance aerobatics. Drop by the Penguin House this weekend to see nature's underwater jets in action! 🐧

Meet Queenie, a very vibrant and determined Chilean flamingo who, thanks to an incredible team of experts, is rising above some rather serious challenges.🦩
Let’s cheer for pink power!

Happy World Rhino Day! 🦏 If anybody knows how to celebrate properly, it's Kiano the black rhino. If you've ever met Kiano, you know he has an abundant personality and an oddly specific obsession with French salad dressing. Today, our keepers are treating him to plenty of belly rubs with his giant broom, his favorite snacks and a whole lot of love.

Not only is Kiano a crowd favorite, but he's also an ambassador representing a critically endangered species that desperately needs protection in the wild. He reminds us that every visit to the zoo makes an impact on animals across the globe.
