Mardi - Gras Tybee Mardi Gras Tybee – Feb. 22, 2020 Tybee is a natural setting for the Mardi Gras event due to its unique character and fun-loving residents.

The event will encompass the traditions of Mardi Gras, an event with origins dating back to the ancient Romans and carried on today in cities such as Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana. Mardi Gras is held on the last day before the start of Lent. Tybee will be dressed in an array of purple, gold and green flags depicting the Tybee Island Mardi Gras celebration. Mardi Gras Tybee will includ

e a Masquerade Ball, the Mardi Gras Tybee Parade, the Mardi Gras Tybee Street Party featuring free live entertainment and more.

MARDI GRAS ROAD CLOSURES

Laissez les bon temps rouler Tybee! We’re letting the good times roll on the Island this weekend with the annual Mardi Gras celebration. Due to the parade and celebration, we will be temporarily closing some roads and parking areas. Please use the following guide to help you navigate the island during the event.

Road Closures
• Both Tybrisa Street and Blanco Lane (at Sea and Breeze Hotel) will close Saturday, Feb. 22 at 6 a.m. and reopen later in the evening once event festivities have concluded.
• Butler Avenue will be closed between 4th Street and Tybrisa, Saturday, Feb. 22 from 1:45 p.m. to approximately 3:15, depending on parade duration.
• Jones Avenue will be open to serve as the alternate north-south access while Butler is closed.
• The roundabout at Tybrisa and Strand will be closed from Saturday, Feb. 22, 6 a.m. to Sunday, Feb. 23, 1 p.m.

Parking Closures
• No parking on Tybrisa after 3 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21.
• No parking after 3 a.m. in the first five spots on each side of the 16th Street parking lot. Please use 17th Street for event parking.
