Voyageur Artists Gallery will be open this weekend 1-4 Friday, 10-4 Saturday and 1-4 Sunday. There is also opportunity to support VA artists and meet a few at the Art On Tap Artists Reception at Castle Danger Brewery Monday August 24 from 5:30-9 pm.

Don't miss all the activity from Voyageur Artists this weekend. To start, the Voyageur Artists Gallery is open Friday 1-4, Saturday 10-4, Sunday 1-4. It's a great time to purchase local art while you're in town enjoying summer.

We also will be celebrating Castle Danger Brewery's 15th Anniversary. Look for our tent in the parking area outside their location on Saturday.

And, while you're in the area, you have a second location to support local artists. VA has an ongoing show in Castle Danger. The current theme is 'Birds and Bees, Flowers and Trees.' Check out a variety of pieces to match your interest and budgets.

Voyageur Artists is excited to be a part of Castle Danger Brewery's 15th Anniversary celebration next weekend on Saturday August 15. Several artists had a tent for face painting and it was so successful with people of all ages, we decided to to it again. Stop.by to see us after 11. Vendors, food trucks, and tents will be set up in the parking lot adjacent to Castle Danger's back yard patio. See you then!

Time is running out to see the Voyageur Artists’ “Transportation” show at Harbor Rail Pub — it will be on display only through the end of this month.

Meanwhile, next week, the “Potluck” group show at Castle Danger Brewery will transition to a new theme: “Birds & Bees, Flowers & Trees.”

You can also support local artists by visiting the Voyageur Artists Gallery, located at South Avenue and 5th Street near the waterfront. Through September, gallery hours are:

•Friday: 1:00–4:00 PM
•Saturday: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
•Sunday: 1:00–4:00 PM

It’s time for a new Minnesota State Parks and Trails license plate design! 🚗🌲

Minnesota State Parks and Trails is hosting a license plate design contest to celebrate state parks, state trails, the North Shore and the Lake Superior Agate. The new design will join the current specialty license plate as an option to support the state parks – and just like the current plate, will provide free entry to all Minnesota state parks and recreation areas.

Read on for more contest details:

• Designs must celebrate the North Shore and the Lake Superior agate, as determined by the Minnesota Legislature in 2026. Designs celebrating the region can draw inspiration from waterfalls, forests, wildlife, unique geology or other natural features and recreational experiences found throughout the North Shore landscape, which can be easily accessed from state parks, trails and other public lands.

• All designs must be created without the use of artificial intelligence, as mandated by the Minnesota Legislature.

• This contest is open to all Minnesota residents. One person may submit multiple entries.

• You can begin working on your designs now! We will begin accepting designs online this fall, from Sept. 15 through Oct 31. Watch for updates in the fall.

• Make sure you read and understand the full contest rules by going to mndnr.gov/parksplate/contest
