We’re mourning the loss of Dr. John Baldwin, one of the founders of the NWPF in 1985, and Professor of Percussion at Boise State University from 1971-2021 (50 years!), with so many memorable ensembles and performances over the decades.
John and his generations of students left a profound impact on the field of percussion performance, composition, and research, and all of us in the Northwest region and beyond extend our sincere condolences to his family. Thank you for everything you shared with us, Dr. Baldwin, and our NWPF family will continue to cherish your legacy each year!
The percussion community has lost a giant and we've lost a dear friend. Dr. John Baldwin was an inspiration to all of us at Grover Pro. He was an accomplished player, respected educator and brilliant scholar. A life well lived. We will miss him.
