✨🌵👻 HDS 2026 FINAL LINEUP 👻🌵✨

Here they are, the final artists comprising our 2026 festival! And these ones are each cooking up something very special (literally, in one case 🥘)

This year we have not one but *3* sound artists bringing installations to the land surrounding the Palms! Clay and Heather (LA) last hit HDS in 2024 with the all-star ensemble MESH. Now they’re back with a more avian avenue: Clay’s solar-powered synths will draw you into the swarm to become one with the murmuration while Heather’s research into hummingbird wing patterns and sonifications inspire flower-trumpets that will decorate The End of the World (iykyk).

And we’re thrilled to welcome for the first time Emmett Palaima (NY), who took the 29 in “Twentynine Palms” literally: his “29-Channel Palms” will spread throughout the surrounding land, creating a massive spatialized chord for you to explore.

These installations will be up throughout the festival, with dedicated viewing time Saturday afternoon. Speaking of Saturday…

Get ready for the first ever HDS POTLUCK! Chris Hadley has been hosting these inspiring events in LA, bringing people together over shared meal and music-making, and we couldn’t be more excited for him to host the next one at HDS on the morning of Saturday 10/17. More information (including a sign-up form!) forthcoming, but start planning accordingly cause Saturday is gonna be a fun one 👻

✨🌵👻 HDS 2026 LINEUP PART 5 👻🌵✨

We’re beyond thrilled to announce that TATSUYA NAKATANI will be making his HDS debut! No stranger to experimental music in the desert, the Truth or Consequences-based nomad will grace the stage of the Palms with his soul-bending array of gongs and bells and drums. If you haven’t heard his music before you owe it to yourself to check him out 🧙‍♂️

Not to be overshadowed, the other artists in this post, all hailing from various parts of CA, will each in their own way reverberate your soul and mind.

Keen-eyed viewers may recognize Steve Blum from last year, performing keys with Vinny’s quintet; he’s a mainstay of LA improvised music and we’re thrilled to give him a spotlight in one of this year’s curated improv groups (but which one??? 👀)

Bruckner-Orgel is a new double bass duo (double double bass!!!) from SD babes Matt Kline and Kathryn Schulmeister that will immerse you in a rumbling chamber of overtones 🕳️

Hailing from Oakland, LOW BLEEDS is capital-F Free 🔥

And vibraphonist Adam Lion (LA) will make you rethink what’s possible with the instrument, transporting you into a time-frozen world of oscillation and harmony 🪐

We’ve one more set of artists to announce! Who do you think will be included???
