This August, we're inviting you to discover the incredible woman behind our name.

The Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center is proud to honor the legacy of Dinah Washington, a Tuscaloosa native whose powerful voice and groundbreaking career left a lasting mark on American music.

Leading up to her birthday on August 29, we'll be sharing a new fun fact on our Instagram Story every day. From her rise to fame to the songs that made her a legend, you'll get to know the artist, trailblazer, and icon whose legacy continues to inspire us.

Follow along all month, test your knowledge, and join us as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dinah Washington. We can't wait to discover her story together.

Hi, Reagan Fryer here!

Today is my last day in office at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center. We have been transitioning behind the scenes for some time now, but I have officially moved on from my role as venue manager. Gabi Verghese will be your venue manager and point of contact going forward!

I have truly enjoyed every single event we made a success here at the DWCAC. There are so many amazing relationships I have built based on my time here and I am so grateful for the experience and the memories we have made together. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of so many special days. I have been made an honorary family member of quite a few families that came through our doors. This isn’t a goodbye- simply a see you around!

Please support and welcome Gabi as she takes on this new role and bear with us through any kinks that may come with the personnel change. I have no doubt this will be an incredible new chapter for such a wonderful venue!
