If you’re looking for resources to support youth mental health and su***de prevention in our community, be sure to stop by the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation booth at the Tuscaloosa Wellness Fest on Sunday, April 26 at The River Market.

The Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting youth mental health awareness and su***de prevention through education, outreach, and early intervention across West Alabama. Created in memory of Kristen Amerson, their mission is to equip young people with the tools they need to understand their emotions, build resilience, and ask for help when they need it.

Through partnerships with local schools and community organizations, they provide mental health education, workshops, and their signature Mental Health Backpacks, which include age-appropriate resources that help students recognize, regulate, and talk about their feelings. By starting these conversations early, they are working to create a generation of young people who feel supported, understood, and never alone.

At the Fest, the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation will share information about youth mental health, su***de prevention, and resources available to families and educators in our community. Visitors can learn about their school-based mental health programs, upcoming community initiatives, and the Mental Health Backpack program. Their team will also be available to discuss ways individuals, parents, and local businesses can get involved in supporting youth mental wellness and strengthening mental health awareness across West Alabama.

We’re grateful to have the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation joining us at this year’s Fest!
