Baby, my girl Shell started FEELING HERSELF! 😂🍬

And I mean LITERALLY!

Sis started rubbing herself down, catching that groove, and I said...

“WAIT A MINUTE, SHELL! WHO YOU THINKING ABOUT OVER THERE?!” 😭😂😂

Because the way she was moving, you would’ve thought she was sending somebody a PERSONAL MESSAGE!

(I know it was my guy Joe, LOL)

Like...

“Baby, you already KNOW this light-skinned queen is SWEET!” 😂🍬

And listen, I ain't mad at her ONE BIT!

Sometimes that Southern Soul will have you thinking about your boo, reminiscing about the good ol' days, or just feeling yourself a little EXTRA! 😂

And Shell?

SHE WAS FEELING EVERY BIT OF IT!

That's what I love about these grown-folks celebrations.

And I LOVE moments like this because sometimes the right song will bring out a whole different side of somebody. 😂

Talking to everybody...

Minding your business...

Then you hear:

And suddenly it’s...

And Auntie answered with NO hesitation. 😂🔥

That’s what milestone celebrations are supposed to feel like—family together, good music playing, everybody laughing and somebody’s auntie somewhere reminding us...

Let’s take it back to Jeff’s 70th birthday celebration, because baby, when I dropped “Mustang Sally”...

THE LADIES CAME OUT! 😭😂💃🏾

They didn’t hesitate.

They didn’t need an invitation.

Soon as they recognized that song, they hit that floor singing, dancing and catching that groove TOGETHER!

And when that “RIDE, SALLY, RIDE!” part hit?

Yeahhhh... they already knew what time it was! 😂🔥

That’s what I love about playing for a crowd with different generations.

Some songs don’t have an expiration date.

You can hear the first few seconds and immediately think:

“OH, THAT’S MY SONG!”

And suddenly your age don’t matter.

Your knees don’t matter. 😭😂

Whatever conversation you were having at the table don’t matter.

Let’s take it back to Dr. Ivory’s celebration, because baby, sis stepped onto that floor like she had somewhere to BE! 😭😂🔥

It was the STRUT for me!

She came through with that walk...

Then added a little sway...

And before I knew it, sis was in her OWN little zone! 😂

I said, “Okayyyy now! I see you!”

Because there’s a certain kind of confidence you can’t teach.

You just step onto the dance floor, catch that beat and let the rest happen naturally.

And baby...

SHE HAD IT! 😮‍💨🔥

The walk had attitude.

The moves had flavor.

And that little strut had folks paying ATTENTION! 😂

That’s why I love catching these moments. Sometimes somebody doesn’t need a whole routine or a big dance move.

Sometimes all you need is a good song, a little room and a walk that says:

When “Set It Off” came through the speakers at the Johnson Wedding, they were up there LIVING!

But y’all, look past the fellas for a second and check out the ROOM! 👀🔥

The uplighting.

The intelligent lighting.

The monitors on the DJ booth.

The lights surrounding the space.

Baby, we had the Demopolis Civic Center LIT UP!

And THIS is what I mean when I talk about creating an atmosphere.

Because DJing a wedding isn’t just about pressing play on good music.

The sound matters.

The lighting matters.

The visuals matter.

The energy in the room matters.

It all works TOGETHER.

And when the production matches the music and the crowd?

Baby, that reception starts feeling like an EXPERIENCE! 😮‍💨🔥

The Johnsons gave us the opportunity to transform that Civic Center into THEIR party, and judging by those fellas on the stage...

And back to the dance floor he went!

That’s one thing about DeAnthony at this wedding—my guy was IN and OUT of that dance floor ALL NIGHT!

If the right song came on?

Oh, he was coming! 😂

And honestly, that’s exactly how it SHOULD be.

You spent all this time planning the wedding.

You got dressed up.

You said “I do.”

Your family and friends showed up to celebrate you.

And Mr. Johnson definitely did!

He wasn’t just watching everybody else have a good time. When HIS music hit, he was right there in the middle of his people catching the vibe.

Y’all, James was on the dance floor dancing with his beautiful new WIFE...

Having a good time.

Enjoying the music.

Living in that newlywed moment. ❤️

And then James decided to sneak in a lil...

PAT PAT! 😭😂😂

I said, “JAMESSSS! We got cameras out here, sir!” 😂

Baby, he was feeling GOOD!

But I can’t even be mad at him because that was his BRIDE! 😂❤️

And that’s what made this little throwback moment so funny. It wasn’t staged. Nobody planned it. It was just James and his wife enjoying THEIR reception, dancing, laughing and being playful with each other.

Sometimes those little unscripted moments tell you more about a couple than anything else.

James was basically like...

“Excuse me, y’all. This MY WIFE right here!” 😂😂

Sir, we see you!

And the camera saw you too! 📸😭😂

That’s what I call MUSCLE MEMORY!

And that’s one thing I LOVE about a good throwback at a wedding.

THESE FOLKS DID NOT GET TIRED! 😭😂🔥

Do you hear me?!

Baby, Khadejah got out there and led ANOTHER PARTY TRAIN, and this time the line got so long I couldn’t even capture everybody! 😂

I’m trying to get the bride...

Trying to get the wedding party...

Trying to get everybody coming behind them...

And the train just KEPT GOING! 😭😂

Then somehow the CHILDREN who had been chilling toward the back realized what was going on and said:

“Hold on… WE WANT IN TOO!” 😂💚

Here they come joining the train for a little hot second!

And baby, THAT made me smile.

Because that’s what a good wedding reception should feel like.

The bride and groom are having fun.

The wedding party is having fun.

The aunties and uncles are having fun.

And even the babies are looking like, “Move over, we coming through!” 😂

Different ages. Different generations. SAME PARTY.

And Khadejah was right there in that wedding dress leading the whole crew like...

“COME ON, Y’ALL!” 😂🔥

Mrs. Johnson said if we’re gonna celebrate...
