So pleased to be able to host this event at the Adirondack State Theater, and to partner with Little Italy Tupper Lake on pre-show dining. Buon appetito!

Tupper Arts continues its free opera series with showing of Met’s ‘Elixir of Love’ on April 23 at Adk State Theater!
The Adirondack State Theater will again ring to the thrilling sounds of opera when Tupper Arts presents a free screening of L’Elisir d’Amore (“The Elixir of Love”) on Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. The film is a recording of a classic 1981 performance at the Metropolitan Opera featuring famous tenor Luciano Pavarotti as Nemorino. A free-will donation is encouraged at the door.
In honor of this Italian opera, Tupper Lake’s Little Italy restaurant will partner with Tupper Arts to make this event “Dinner and the Opera!”, offering a 10 percent discount to “operagoers” that evening from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. To receive the discount, diners must tell their server “I’m going to the opera!”
The Adirondack State Theater is located at 100 Park Street, Tupper Lake. Little Italy is located at 146 Park Street.
L’Elisir d’Amore is one of the most beloved operas of composer Gaetano Donizetti and tells the story of the love-struck Nemorino, who believes a “magic elixir” he purchases from the quack Dulcamara (actually a bottle of Bordeaux) will help win him the love of Adina. The opera features the famous tenor aria “Una furtiva lagrima” (a furtive tear), and critical acclaim for Pavarotti’s performance included: “Pavarotti in splendid voice … sings the role magnificently and does the requisite clowning, but he also gives the part an undercurrent of tragedy …”
The recording also features singers Judith Blegen, Sesto Bruscantini, and Brent Ellis, with conductor Nicola Rescigno. The film will be hosted by Tupper Arts Director of Performing Arts George Cordes, himself an opera singer who has sung the role of Dulcamara. Join us!

🎨 Big news for our young creatives!

Tupper Arts is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a grant from the
Stewart’s Shops Holiday Match program. These funds go to support children’s
programming at our art center. All of our art classes are free for children of all ages. This program would not be possible without the generosity of Stewart’s Shops and our donors. Tupper Arts is very thankful to Stewart’s and their customers for including our programs in their Holiday Match.
