This week let’s meet one of the fastest running infield workers you’ll ever see, Zach Whitelock!

Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma (with a brief three-year adventure in Missouri), Zach attended Nathan Hale High School before continuing his education at Rogers State University, where he pursued baseball. Eventually, he decided to step away from college and enter the workforce full-time.

Today, Zach works at Lightning Wing & Powder Coating while also building a successful side career in content creation. A lifelong athlete, he has been playing baseball for over 20 years and still competes in men’s leagues throughout the Tulsa area.

When he’s not working, you can usually find him at a racetrack, on a baseball field, out fishing, or enjoying anything that gets him outdoors. He also enjoys creating content and growing his online presence, something that has become a true passion.

Zach met his fiancée on a softball field nine years ago, and she’s been by his side ever since. Whether she’s listening to his late-night ideas and stories or spending time at Port City while he’s working, he credits her support as a huge part of his journey.

Racing has been a part of Zach’s life for as long as he can remember. He started attending races when he was just two years old and has been hooked ever since. One of his earliest racing memories is watching Chris Andrews and his famous SpongeBob-themed car, a memory that helped spark a lifelong love for the sport.

After joining the team at Port City Raceway, Zach started a YouTube channel called Adventures With Z as a fun way to spend his free time and showcase drivers’ perspectives from the track. What began as a hobby has since grown into a second job, allowing him to share the excitement of racing with fans both at the track and online.

We’re proud to have Zach as part of the Port City family and appreciate everything he does to help bring the action to life for race fans everywhere! 🏁📹

This week we get to meet another important person upstairs! She handles sign-in, scoring, lining our drivers up, and so much more!

Meet Jessica Guthrie, a longtime and dedicated member of the micro racing community whose passion for the sport spans decades. Jessica first became involved in racing after moving to Oklahoma following high school graduation. With her stepfather racing in the “single” class micros and her mother serving as a scorer at Black Widow Speedway as well as Region Eleven and Central Area NMMA events, racing quickly became a family affair. She got her start assisting with scorer sheet recaps during 100-lap events before eventually stepping into the pit steward role at Black Widow Speedway — where she also met her husband.

When RUJO reopened after Creek County stopped running micros, Jessica occasionally helped Beverly Bradley with scoring duties. After Steve Carbone and Kenny Bayer purchased the track, Kenny invited Jessica to assist in the tower helping the promoter. The following season, with a change in management, she became the lead scorer — a role she has proudly held ever since. Over the years, she also took on driver registration and line-up responsibilities as staff evolved.

Jessica’s experience and dedication earned her opportunities to work some of the biggest events in racing. Since the mid-1990s, she has assisted with scoring and timing at both the Tulsa Shootout and Chili Bowl Nationals, and in recent years has also helped in the event office. Beyond that, she has contributed her talents to countless micro, midget, sprint car, and karting events across multiple series.

Outside of racing, Jessica recently began an exciting new chapter professionally after spending 35 years with a national moving and storage company, where she most recently served as office and accounting manager. She now works in administrative support for Argent Trust Oklahoma.

Jessica is equally passionate about animal rescue and dog training. She is an active volunteer with Oklahoma Westie Rescue, helping with adoption events and fostering spaniels in need. Many race fans have met Ellie and Heathcliff, two of her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, who often accompanied her to the track as puppies. Along with her husband, Jessica shares her home with three cocker spaniels, three Cavaliers, and often a foster dog or two. Her love of dogs led her to begin training classes in 1990, and just four years later she became a volunteer instructor at Tulsa Dog Training Club, where she still teaches puppy and beginner obedience classes today. She also actively competes in canine sports, with Ellie earning multiple obedience and rally titles, and both Ellie and Heathcliff recently achieving their first agility titles.

When she’s not at the racetrack or working with dogs, Jessica enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends anywhere there’s sunshine and a beach.

As a track focused on building the youth of our sport, it was truly special to watch Kyle and Brexton work together. The passion, support, and dedication Kyle showed both on and off the track made a lasting impact on so many around him.

Kyle was truly one of a kind, and his presence within the motorsports community will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
