The eleven artists who have had artwork chosen for the second half of the concert (Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition") will be at the artists' reception tomorrow night (Jan 23rd) from 6-9 p.m. at the TCC Pace (81st and 169). The CATACOMBS movement fills the listener with a feeling of foreboding. In my painting the viewer is only steps away from walking under the archway into the presence of the unknown. The dark, ominous musical tones mirror the apprehension and foreboding we all feel when we enter the dark places in our lives.

Sharon Allred's creative career emerged alongside her years as a cardiac nurse. She discovered the value of healing the whole person through art-making. As she moved to nursing to being a professional artist she studied with mixed-media artists and developed her own unique style. Her works invite the viewer to look deeply to find their own path to greater wholeness.
