Sound of Rushing Waters

Started this in 2018, but as I progressed, I came across areas that I didn't possess the skill to complete to the level I desired. So I would set ot aside and move on to practicing on other pieces. As I gained experience in applying techniques and effects, I would pick it back up and start again. It's now 2026 and ALMOST finished. Lol

"Before the storm."

Before the Storm, the 12 apostles enter the boat. This represents a very personal tension for me. I often feel pulled between doing the work that must be done and longing to simply sit in the presence of God. The world asks us to move, fix, build, and carry. Faith asks us to listen, surrender, and remain close to Christ. This painting holds both realities together.

Portrait of Kofi

This is my son, Kofi. He has autism, albinism, and other disabilities, and he is truly my soulmate. We move through life as a powerful team. Long before he arrived, during a meditation, I was told I would one day have a son with autism. That message came ten years before his birth, and it proved to be true.

Also, when I was seven months pregnant, I dreamed his name: Kofi, which is a Ghanaian name for a boy, meaning "born on Friday." In perfect alignment with that dream, Kofi entered the world on a Friday.

The Fisherman

My friend commissioned me to paint a portrait of his father when he was young. I asked him if his father had anything he liked or a hobby that I could use in the portrait. He said, " crappie," so I painted him as if he were fishing on a lake. It turned out nice.

I'm a Retired Master Sergeant with the US Army

Arthur J. Uphold, known as AJ, is a longtime resident in the Tulsa area. He served 28 years, both Active and Reserves, in the US Army and retired as a Master Sergeant

AJ?s formal art education includes an associate?s in art from Tulsa Junior College, followed by anatomy school in Denver, CO, where he developed his skills in painting the human figure. He later earned his BFA from OSU in 1995

AJ's artistic approach uses a combination of geometric shapes, intense color, and realism, creating new work in his own unique voice. Throughout the process, he remains open to change and experimentation. AJ's creative spirit remains active, painting almost daily, and he emphasizes the importance of finding his own voice rather than emulating others.

The New Church

This building is in Cleveland, OK. My realtor cousin sold it and the new owner found an old photo taken during construction. My cousin commissioned me to paint, and in the end, the owners of the old church loved it. He bought the church to renovate and make it home for his young family.
