When Earl Harwell chose the location for his home, it wasn’t simply for the beautiful view of the Arkansas River. It also overlooked the oil refinery that helped shape Tulsa’s early economy.

In those early years, bridges connecting Tulsa to the west side of the Arkansas River were essential to the city’s growth. West Tulsa soon became a bustling center of oil refineries, fueling the boom that helped put Tulsa on the map.

The Dogwood Suite, once known as Earl Harwell’s room, is the mansion’s most masculine suite. Rich in character and thoughtfully appointed, every detail was designed for comfort, charm, and a timeless stay.

Portrait of Mary Harwell, painted by Claude Montgomery an artist who once called both Tulsa and Portland, Maine home using the money he earned from his art to help feed homeless people in Portland. The piece showcases history beautifully and hangs so lovely in the mansion!

A piece of Harwelden history. ✨

This replica of the Townley Vase features a high-relief Bacchic scene, with Pan and followers of Bacchus dancing in revelry.

The original vase was part of the Harwell Estate in the 1920s and was later acquired from Caroline Crain, granddaughter of E.P. and Mary Harwell.

Primrose flowers were intentionally woven throughout the home’s design. Not only was the primrose Mary Harwell’s favorite flower, but it also appears in the Harwell family crest!

Margo’s 1942 wedding dress, lovingly preserved and displayed alongside a scrapbook of her wedding photos. She was married right here on the main floor of the house. A delicate blue ribbon sewn inside the gown served as her ‘something blue.’ Dress generously provided by her daughter, Caroline Crain.
