We just heard about this on NPR, and now we want to go to there! QUOTE from play:
''Everyone wants to be black until the time comes to be black."

The critically acclaimed theatrical testament the world needs now more than ever comes to Broadway at last.

"[W}hy does it take a man to say that women are being discriminated against, for people to notice that women are being discriminated against?"
- Theresa Rebeck, playwright, co-wrote 'Omnium Gatherum,' a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for drama. She created 'Smash,' the television series about Broadway.

A major American theater planned to produce nine plays by men and one by a woman this season. Why did it take a male playwright to change that when women have flagged such inequities for years?

Portland Stage just sent this email to one of our officers who subscribes to their emails:

"As we prepare to return to our stages, we’re working diligently to make that return as safe as possible for our patrons, artists, staff, and volunteers.

"We wanted you to be among the first to know that Portland Center Stage will require all guests who attend events or gatherings at The Armory to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or show a recent negative test. All patrons will be required to show proof of vaccination or test, as well as a matching photo ID, to enter the performance or event space.

"In addition to this vaccination policy, we will also require the use of face masks. And you can rest assured knowing that all of our performers, volunteers, and staff members will be vaccinated as well.

"We’re also thrilled to be collaborating with a number of other local arts organizations on a Performing Arts Vaccine Coalition, which you can read more about here.

"PCS will continue to closely monitor local, state, and federal policies regarding indoor activities and plan our safety protocols accordingly. You can find full details about the health and safety steps we are taking here, including information about where you can get vaccinations and tests. Please check this page closer to your visit for the most up-to-date policies.

"We have all been through so much over the last year and a half, and we truly believe it’s more important than ever to do everything possible to prioritize the health of our community.

"Thank you for helping us keep our community safe and enabling the return to live performances. We can’t wait to see you at the theater!"
