Meet the Church Ink crew!

Holden Burns, sick__burns, apprentice

Holden Burns is Church Ink’s newest tattoo apprentice. Born in Northern California, he lived in various Arizona cities into his twenties, before relocating to Austin, TX. He returned to the Tucson desert in 2025.
Artistically, he is drawn to the chiaroscuro of trad-noir, heavy lines and black work styles. His favorite creative subjects are often abstract, risqué or quirky, inspired by brutalism, abolitionism and humanism. Although he has historically oriented his work within mediums such as graphic design, the beauty industry and culinary, he has only recently pointed his creative energy at sculpture and permanent ornamentation.
Holden is in his final year of a psychology undergraduate program and intended to continue his academic pursuit of a PHD in psychoneuroendorcrinology. When he isn’t learning or collecting experiences, he’s tending to his myriad houseplants, playing pool, riding his bicycle or pampering his dog, Pony.

Meet the Church Ink crew!

Ann Perry, Desert Rat Tattoo, resident artist

I am a born and raised Tucsonan and I am absolutely in love with the weird mistress that is the Sonoran desert. I always loved drawing but I didn’t start studying art seriously until high school. I then graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA in illustration.
I love working with bright colors, bold lines and graphic designs. I pull inspiration from the southwest, printmaking, fantasy art, low-budget animated films and the weirdest tchotchkes I can find.
I believe tattooing is a way to feel more comfortable in your skin and I strive to create a safe and accepting environment for all my clients.
When I’m not tattooing, I love watching anime with my husband Paul, reading fantasy or s**t, rubbing my dog’s belly, rummaging through thrift stores, crocheting and not wearing pants.

Meet the Church Ink crew!

Sandra Muller, Sanspresso, resident artist

I realized pretty early in that art was what I wanted to spend my life doing, but was a little directionless on what exactly that meant. It wasn’t I got my first tattoo that I truly fell in love with tattooing.
I was born and raised in Tucson and did a brief stint as a University of Arizona student. I worked in some freelance and graphic design before finally pursuing an apprenticeship with Church Ink. I’ve been here ever since!
I lean towards an illustrative style with detailed line work. I enjoy making tattoos that look like pen drawings, as if they just jumped from a sketchbook page directly to skin. A good dose of whimsy is incredibly important to me, and I love the macabre as well.
I’m someone who loves art history, large gaudy earrings and yapping. I’m always happy to swap funny stories and learn about any rabbit holes that you’ve fallen through recently.

Meet the Church Ink crew!

S.D. Marcella Watson, shop owner and founder of Church Ink Tattoo Parlor

S.D. Marcella Watson was born in Los Angeles. She spent her teen years in Tucson. Hopped around Europe and the Midwest. In 2018, she and her husband Harry landed back in Tucson and together they built Church Ink Tattoo Parlor, a place to bring your mom to get tattooed.
Her work is inspired by the intricacy and abstractness or creatures from land and sea, embellishing dramatic contour lines and honoring muted earth tones. She took her artistic perspective and turned it towards tattooing with an appreciation for permanece and joy in body modification.
Her toxic trait is that she believes she can pick up any craft, master it, make it her whole identity only to find the serotonin boost was temporary and then those crafts are forever banished to the black hole (the craft closet). Her best friend is a dog named Muddy, the bestest boy in the universe.
