Civic Orchestra of Tucson

Civic Orchestra of Tucson A Community Treasure Since 1975

Founded in 1975, the Civic Orchestra of Tucson is a 60-piece volunteer community orchestra offering Tucsonans the opportunity to perform or listen to fine classical music. Often featuring some of Tucson's most well-known soloists, COT-sponsored concerts are free-of-charge throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona and are easily accessible to the elderly and physically challenged.

"Conducting an orchestra is like riding a stallion. You have to guide it and it has to feel safe with you, but you also have to respect the fact that it could kill you in a second."

(Bradley Cooper on the work he did learning to conduct to play Leonard Bernstein in his most recent film. Yeah, he's pretty much right about that.)

This is just a reminder that our concerts this weekend have been canceled. Please stay safe and healthy this weekend!

It is with a heavy heart that we must cancel our concerts this weekend.

While known cases of the COVID-19 virus are rare in our community, many organizations are taking precautions. This includes the theaters, churches, the cancellation of the "March Madness” basketball tournament, and even the U of A canceling classroom lectures and encouraging faculty to limit the number of individuals from any given unit attending any one event on campus.

In view of this, Civic Orchestra has decided it would be responsible to cancel the March concerts in order to be proactive in preventing the spread of the coronavirus. We feel this would be in the best interest of our patrons as well as our musicians.

Thank you for supporting the Civic Orchestra of Tucson by your attendance at our concerts and your donations. We couldn't do it without you.
