Born in Germany, where he studied percussion performance in Frankfurt. For 15 years before coming to Tucson in 2008, Arno was the director of a private arts academy in Büdingen. His years of professional musical experience included performances with the Frankfurt Opera, the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra and international tours with other sym

phony orchestras. Jazz and traditional German folk music have always been a large part of his musical life. Arno received his conducting degree at the National Music Academy in Trossingen. He has been principal timpanist of the Arizona Opera since 2009. Arno joined the Tucson Concert Band as percussionist in 2009 and soon after became the band’s associate conductor. In 2021, he was named Music Director and Conductor of the Tucson Concert Band.

It’s me again, the TCB librarian! Occasionally, when sorting music, you’ll find a piece that doesn’t belong with the piece you’re sorting. Sometimes pages get stuck together or they get tucked in incorrect places. Sometimes people turn in their folder late and the music has already been filed away. I have a special tray where I put these pieces of music; I call them drifters. For the first time since I became librarian (in 2019), I went through and sorted the pile of drifters. Which is what you see here. Anyone want to guess how tall this pile is?
