This sphinx moth life cycle progression done by Amanda (Amanda Timmerman) is a beautiful look at one of the deserts important pollinators. The hornworm lives for a few weeks before dropping onto the ground and enters its pupa stage buried under leaf litter or loose soil and can remain dormant there for a couple weeks or over the winter where it’ll emerge as the sphinx moth that has become so common a sight of Tucson summers.

Amanda has captured the three main phases of their life cycle in black and grey, having added the caterpillar and pupa stage to the already healed moth she completed several months prior. This gives a great look at what her work looks like fresh and how you can expect it to look come the following years. Haunted Hands Tattoo in Tucson opens their doors the first Friday of every month for walk in tattoos and consultations. Artists have predrawn designs to choose from and are available to chat with about setting up future appointments. Our First Friday Open House events are a great opportunity to meet the artists and see everyone’s distinctive styles or to shop our boutique.

Victor’s (Victor Macias) client is getting his cat’s portraits, each of which started as a foster and found their forever home with him. Victor shows off his realism portraiture with decorative frames and this is the first of several in the series. We look forward to seeing more.

We’ve heard that fostering is incredibly rewarding but one of the hardest things about fostering is saying goodbye. Through his client and others we’ve heard a lot about how fostering helps animals be more adoptable by having exposure to people and households and relieves the shelters from being overcrowded. Tucson has several outlets for fostering both cats and dogs
