𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗴❓

A service dog is a dog that has been trained to perform tasks for individuals with disabilities or other special needs. Service dogs can provide help for people who are blind or hard of hearing, as well as those who have balance issues, mobility issues caused by injuries or illness, or mental health conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They help with tasks like opening doors and picking up items that their owners drop. This type of assistance makes it possible for their handlers to live independently and participate more fully in public life—all without having to rely on another person's assistance or accommodation every time they need something from outside their home.

How do you know if you are being around a service dog? You can often recognize a service dog by their vest or harness, which will have an identification tag. 🐕‍🦺

Service dogs should always be treated with respect, even if you aren't familiar with the dog or its owner. Here are a few things to remember when interacting with a working service dog. 📌

After the parade was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19, Air Force veteran Ann Rodgers said the news is another blow amid an already tough year.

American Legion Post 7 regretfully agreed to not host a Veterans Day Parade this year.

The city has not as of yet approved our permit due to construction, and the inability to find an alternate route long enough.

In case you missed the earlier announcement, the 2020 Veterans Day Parade has been cancelled.
ALR Post 7 will be doing a ride. KSU 9:00 at the post.
Post 7 will be holding an Open House starting at 11 am.

My Family and I had a great opportunity to meet 4 service men today from Buddy Watch Walk - Pier to Pier . They are taking a journey to raise awareness for those have served our great nation! Their mission is to raise awareness. Let's make sure we give a like and follow on their social media platforms to continue their mission. They end June 14th.... for this walk. Go check em out.

With it being Military Appreciation Month. We sent them with a little package to wear for . Just a little memory of their trek through Tucson, Home of the Longest American Legion Ran Veteran's Day Parade!!

No meeting this month. No new updates. Waiting to hear from the city after June 8th if we will be eligible for a permit this year.

Squadron 7 Commander along with Post 7 Commander and some guests have expressed interest in getting education out to the youth for some learning opportunities via facebook live.

A couple of ideas so far is Flag Ettiqute, 10 Ideals, 5 Star and The American Legion Pillars. What would you like to see as some education for our youth discussed?

Tucson Veterans Day Parade

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at nearly 2 million in more than 13,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines.

March 15-17 1919, Members of the American Expeditionary Force convene in Paris for the first American Legion caucus. May 8-10 1919, St. Louis Caucus. "The American Legion" is adopted as the organization's official name. The Legion's draft preamble and constitution are approved . June 9th the National Executive Committee adopts the Legion emblem. July 9th 1919 Morgan McDermott American Legion Post 7 is chartered.

That following armistice day, now known as Veterans day Post 7 had decided to have a parade and dance to honor those service members. We at Post 7 continue to proudly host the Veterans Day Parade and will continue to honor our local service members.
