'Luz Escondido' by Claire Christine Sargenti

'The human eye can detect light between 400-700nm. This range makes up what we consider to be visible light and the colors of the rainbow as we know it, based on the trichromatic or three-primary color system.

Above 700nm is infrared, an invisible world that humans can’t see Animals, however, can see whole spectrums of light that are inaccessible to humans, with some animals seeing in a tetrachromatic, or four-primary color system. This means that not only do animals see the world in a vastly different light than we do, some animals can see more colors than we can even comprehend.

Photographing the Sonoran Desert in infrared light gives us an idea of how our desert dwelling neighbors experience their surroundings, and serves as a reminder that the desert and its mysteries are not for human consumption alone. There is much more to the desert than meets the eye, and it is my hope that viewing the desert in a whole new light will foster a sense of stewardship and wonder for the desert and all living beings who call this place their home.'

'From the series The Enchanted Fortress' by Mathilde Troussard

'This image is part of the series The Enchanted Fortress, a body of 14 photographs created in April 2022 in Calpe, Spain.

At the heart of a labyrinth of pink and blue walls, a heroine from another time wanders gracefully and playfully through the hidden corners of an imaginary palace. La Muralla Roja, the geometric and sun-drenched architecture designed by Ricardo Bofill, becomes both the setting of a fairytale and the stage for a silent theatre.

An inflatable flamingo, a whimsical guardian of this enchanted fortress, seems to await its flight or its release, like in a waking dream. Balancing architectural rigor with pop fantasy, this playful and colorful series explores the enchantment of the everyday, where lines begin to dance and humor opens the door to imagination.'

'Braided River Patterns' by Sandra A. Horrocks

"I enjoy using interesting compositions to draw the eye into a picture and natural light to relate the beauty that landscape photography offers to us. In the last year I had the opportunity to begin learning drone photography as part of a tour into the Highlands of Iceland. This area is highly volcanic and also very wet with shallow meandering waters know as "braided rivers" flowing all about. This photograph provides an example of the dramatic patterns which result from that movement and flow of a fast moving braided river as it gets caught up in the grounds below it. Photo results such as this have me very excited about continuing to work with a drone. I've learned that photographing from above can be fascinating and provides another way to look at our surroundings through photography."

'Laura is an outstanding aerial acrobat and performer, she is organising events to support various social causes and works with kids, teaching them creativity and freedom of self-expression. Yet she is reluctant to take the spotlight, she is always searching for ways to lift and promote other people around her. In this session we leaned into artistic liberty, played with strong colors, silhouettes and dramatic light. Her inner power is visible even when her body is hiding in the shadows.'
