🔎I love learning about traditions observed in other parts of the globe! 🌎 I came across an article recently that introduced me to the caroling tradition of “Parrandas” in Puerto Rico. A small group of people called “parranderos“ go from house to house singing “parrandas” (carols) late at night, waking up the homeowner, who invites them in and gives them food & drink. As they go along to more houses, they grow in numbers, singing Christmas songs, called “Alguinaldos” which means “gifts”. Doesn’t that sound like fun? 🥳 I wonder if the Puerto Rican diaspora does this in places like NYC? Comment below if you can share anything about Parrandas! Parrandas are the Puerto Rican version of caroling. Marked by singing traditional Puerto Rican music called Aguinaldos (Christmas Songs)

Winter Break is finally here! 🎉❄️ Kudos to students who have stuck it out, and major props to educators who’ve had to move to remote teaching this year due to COVID_19. I commend your resilience.

Christmas caroling is one of my favorite holiday traditions. 🎄🎼👄 I miss being able to sing in groups, but hopefully it will be safe to do so next year! 🤞
