Heart is WARM af from a sweet celebration of Beatriz the Builder Bee hosted by yesterday! Thank you so much to Robin, my co-collaborator and author of the children’s book, for organizing this book launch party and for bringing everyone who contributed to this project together! And thank you to everyone who came to say hi and support this little bee project, from friends, former colleagues, docents, and more!

It was so fun to meet members of the Tucson Bee Collaborative bee team and Tucson teachers who contributed scientific notes, much-needed anatomy corrections to my illustrations, fun facts and amazing photography to the glossary, and general support to make this book both a fun story AND a teaching tool for the We Bee Scientists curriculum! Thanks to all of our efforts and grant money from the - the first printing of this book as well as the open-source STEM curriculum is available for free to Tucson area teachers!! 💚 Find it online at desertmuseum.org/wbs

Remember the rules of bee school:
1. BEE kind
2. BEE respectful
3. BEE honest

A portal in a tree stump and a small conflagration! Watercolor and white gouache. What’s up IG, been a while hehehe. I’ve just been living my life, working my job, surviving Tucson summer! How have you all been? I’d love to hear what you think of this new painting :)

This year, I decided to take a pottery class as a way of stretching my circle of creative practices and ways of thinking. My drawing and painting practice was feeling a little stale, so to freshen things up, I wanted to try something new. While this little bowl is pretty much the only thing that I made during the 8 weeks, and I had help shaping the bottom, I am in love with the glazing and the cute little chunky shape.

I really enjoyed working the clay on the wheel and I may take it up again in the future, but for now I’m focused on other projects. Love my lil bowl though! 🥰 What new practices or mediums have you tried recently? In what ways are you stretching your creative muscles and keeping things fresh in your practice?

Big hugs to everyone who came out to support the local maker and artist community at the ! It was great getting to chat with you all, and as a little baby art biz, I truly feel the love. Though my bangs - and parts of my table display - weren’t cooperating in the wind, and I was exhausted by the end of the weekend, I enjoyed every bit of it and am grateful I was able to participate as a vendor. Thank you 🙏

Via my art account .art :: After a year of chaos and uncertainty, my Masters of Fine Arts thesis work, The Endless Forest (The End of the Forest) is finally coming together as part of the MFA Thesis Alumni Show. The pandemic disrupted our show when it was indefinitely canceled last spring. The thesis exhibition is the ultimate point of an MFA program, the culmination of the previous three years of study and work. I'm thrilled to see these drawings up on a wall finally, and even more thrilled to have been able share the work in person for a small group of people.

I'm bummed more people couldn't attend the gallery in person, because these drawings really are meant to be explored up close, with no barrier, let alone digital, between you and the drawings to experience the really subtle, gentle details. For now, the digital sphere will have to do. Thanks to for his excellent documentation of the show (including this photo), you can see my and all my incredibly talented peers' work at galleries.art.arizona.edu. 🖤
