Little Mountain Pottery

Little Mountain Pottery Open by Appt. or by chance Little Mountain Pottery is the studio and showroom of Claude and Elaine Graves. Africa, Mexico and the Canary Islands.

The Graves started the pottery in 1973 after working with and documenting folk potters in Spain, N. Claude has been designated a "Traditional Artist" of the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area. In 2015 Tyson Graham began a one year apprenticeship with the Graves and now works out of the shop under his own name, Tyson Graham Pottery.

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Claude Graves--founder, artist, and proprietor of Little Mountain Pottery, along with his wife and soulmate of 50 years, Elaine--on the night of April 1, after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma three and a half years ago.

We will miss him greatly, but continue to cherish our memories of him and be inspired by all that he gave us over the years. Please feel free to leave your remembrances and stories about Claude in the comments here. The obituary contains information on memorial, gifts, etc.

The spring kiln opening will be Saturday, April 27th at 11am! It will be my 19th firing of the gas kiln here at Little Mountain Pottery. I just finished designing the poster for the event. Mark your calendar!
