This free online event is open to the public and is part of the TRIFF Talks series, made possible with funding from the Mary F. Kessler Grant by the Polk County Community Foundation, the Community Foundation of Western NC, the Community Foundation of Henderson County, and the Carolina Foothills Foundation.

DYK the Tryon Theatre has been in continuous operation since 1938, but they received a huge facelift in 2017? It was completely renovated with new owners, all new seating, state-of-the-art sound and projection, big screen, accessible restrooms, nice lighting and so much more. We always love spending time here every year at TRIFF. Catch us October 8-11, 2026 at this year’s film festival, sponsored by New View Realty!

Fun Fact: DYK that Nina Simone was born right here in beautiful Tryon, NC? What an amazing legacy she left, and what an honor for us to continue to remember her and her life’s work! We’re proud to have her brother and collaborator, Dr. Samuel Waymon, as one of our judges!

Ashley Crane, a Spartanburg, SC native, is proud to continue serving the Tryon International Film Festival! A filmmaker herself, Ashley is at home on set and in a theater, and loves being part of watching creatives have their vision come to life. She is passionate about creating community, and giving filmmakers a place to showcase their work.
