Meet Flint, the caretaker of the mysterious estate in SOMETHING'S AFOOT. Flint, played by Andrew Baglia, knows the house.
He knows its secrets.
He knows where everything is…
…and perhaps more importantly, he knows where everyone is.
But there’s something else about Flint that may make you suspicious…
His dinghy.
Why does the caretaker need a dinghy?
Where does it go?
And what—or who—has he been ferrying across that mysterious lake?

Flint may seem like the dependable caretaker you'd expect in a classic Agatha Christie-style country-house mystery. But when people start turning up dead, suddenly that helpful fellow with the keys—and that suspicious little boat—starts looking a lot more… sinister.

The cast of SOMETHING'S AFOOT look like a very accommodating and loving bunch of people. Until they get their actor rôles on, that is, and become party to murder and hayhem. Whom do they trust? How can they even close their eyes? Drink that cocktail? Touch that light switch? The trickery and intrigue become all encompassing as this satirical spoof unfolds.

Meet Dr. Grayburn, played by Lou Buttino, in Tryon Little Theater’s Something’s Afoot! Every mysterious English manor needs a doctor close at hand—and with the bodies beginning to pile up, Dr. Grayburn may find himself busier than expected. He’s respectable. He’s experienced. And he certainly knows the difference between natural causes and something far more sinister. But in an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery, you have to wonder… Is Dr. Grayburn here to diagnose the victims—or does he know more about their deaths than he’s letting on? Meet Lettie, played by Lexie Gioia, in Tryon Little Theater’s Something’s Afoot! As the maid at the Rancour mansion, Lettie knows her way around the house—and probably knows far more about its occupants than they realize. She’s clever, confident, and always seems to be nearby when something suspicious is happening. After all, when you’re the one cleaning up everyone else’s messes, you’re bound to uncover a secret or two. Something’s Afoot…A TLT Production
A wonderful cast has been assembled for Tryon Little Theater’s upcoming production, Something’s Afoot, playing at the TLT Workshop Theater for two weekends: September 17-20, and 24-27.
Book, music, and lyrics are by James McDonald, David Vos, and Robert Gerlach. Additional music is by Ed Linderman. With director Linda Killion, music director Pam McNeil, and the collaboration of talented actors added to the mix, you have a murder-mystery musical with a deliciously dark sense of humor.
The cast: Lexie Gioia plays Lettie, the saucy maid, and Andrew Baglia is Flint, the caretaker. Jim Killion is Clive, the butler (did he do it?). Mandy Dimond plays Hope Langdon a beautiful, young ingenue, and Lou Buttino is the family doctor, Dr. Grayburn. Paul Noga portrays Nigel Rancour, a dissolute nephew, and Brenda Craig plays the grande-dame, Lady Grace Manley-Prowe. Col. Gilweather, the old army man, is played by Mark Sawyer, with Tena Greene-Porter as Miss Tweed, the elderly amateur detective. Finally, playing Geoffrey, the young character in the group who develops a romantic connection with one of the young ladies, is Tristan Bakanosky.
So, are ready for an old-fashioned English country-house where everyone has a secret, nobody is safe, and the audience is part of the fun? If so, step into a world of mysterious mansions, suspicious guests, secret motives, unexpected deaths—and a killer who may be closer than you think. If you love Agatha Christie and trying to solve the crime before the final reveal, Something’s Afoot is your kind of night at the theater.
