The opening show at RioBravoFineArt, 110 North Broadway, Truth or Consequences, on June 13, 6 to 9 pm, will feature four new artists for the gallery, Karen Ahlgren, Karen Argeanas, Jeffrey Schmitt, and Andy Young. The show will also feature some new works by two of the regular gallery artists – Ricky Padilla and Suzanne Pointon.

Three of the new artists explore the wonders of the Southwest, each in a unique way. Ahlgren presents vivid images of the Southwest fauna using watercolor on gouache. Argeanas paints the Southwestern landscape, both built and natural, in a style reflective of much of the sparsity of the desert environment. Young uses strong coloration and bold geometric shapes in his landscape images. The fourth new artist, Schmitt, brings a new aspect, glass art, to the eclectic collection of art at the gallery. Schmitt is a longtime New Mexico glass artist whose featured work in the show will include several wall hangings.

Pointon and Padilla have been busy as of late with work exploring new techniques and subject matter. The show by Dina D’Argo, Running with the Wolves, is being extended through June, and D’Argo will be present at the June Art Hop opening show. Music will be provided by the RGee Trio.

At RioBravoFineArt,110 North Broadway, Truth or Consequences, Dina Dargo’s
Running with the Wolves continues through June 21 and the Recycle Art Show,
sponsored by Truth or Consequences Sustainable, continues through May 17.
June marks the beginning of a busy summer season for the gallery. The June 13 Art
Hop opening event from 6 to 9 pm is a special display for four new artists at the gallery
– Karen Ahlgren, Karen Argeanas, Jeffrey Schmitt, and Andy Young. Schmitt brings a
new dimension to the gallery fine art selection with his superb art glass. Ahlgren does
intensely colored watercolor and gouache images of New Mexico fauna. Young and
Argeanas each bring a unique and imaginative perspective to the magnificent
landscape of the Southwest.
The July 11 Art Hop opening is an exhibition of paintings from the Timescapes series by
Olin B. West. This exhibition is a major gallery event showcasing a truly exceptional
artist. The paintings in this exhibition present stunning artistic expression with
meticulous craftsmanship.
The August 8 Art Hop opening show is by the Border Artists. This group of twenty
Southern New Mexico artists offers fine art in a variety of media. They have shown
previously at the gallery, and their shows are always welcome for their originality,
creativity, inventiveness, and freshness.
The RGee Trio will be providing music, a mixture of pop and rock classics shaped with a
light jazz style, for Art Hop at the gallery on May 9, 6 to 9 pm.

APR 22: Earth Day at RioBravo

Join Sustainable TorC as we celebrate the 56th annual Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, from 5pm to 7pm at Rio Bravo Fine Art Gallery, 110 N Broadway, TorC, NM. See our Recycled Art Show which honors our local artist, Jeff Barbour. There are still pieces for sale. We will have wine and snacks available.

Representatives from Sustainable T or C will be on hand to discuss recycling and sustainable issues with you.

RioBravoFineArt, 110 North Broadway, Truth or Consequences, will be hosting two special events on April 11, 2026, during regular Art Hop hours from 6 to 9 pm.

The first event is the opening for the Recycled Art Show sponsored by Sustainable T or C. This opening is a prelude to other events to celebrate Earth Day 2026. On April 22, the official date for Earth Day, there will be a special reception from 5 to 7 pm at RioBravoFineArt. May Art Hop will also be a part of Sustainable T or C events as the Recycled Art Show runs through May 17. For the April 22 reception and both the April and May Art Hops at RioBravoFineArt, there will be representatives from Sustainable T or C to discuss recycling and sustainability. This year, the events of Earth Day in T or C will honor Jeff Barbour, a local artist who was a visionary and craftsperson who made most of his art from upcycled found objects.

The second event is the release of RioBravoFineArt’s poster for World Art Day 2026. This day is observed annually on April 15, Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday, to honor the universal language of art and its power to inspire, unite and transform societies across borders. Special promotional material for World Art Day will be available to all attending Art Hop.

The art community in Carrizozo has been a long-time promoter of World Art Day via their organization World Art Day Carrizozo. They have recently launched World Art Day New Mexico. RioBravoFineArt along with its friends at La Galeria in Mountainair are a part of the beginning phase of World Art Day New Mexico. This organization promises to be a vibrant promoter of the arts in New Mexico.
