Following a finding that 28 state legislative districts were unconstitutional racial gerrymanders, a federal court has ordered state lawmakers to redraw their General Assembly maps and hold new elections in 2017.

Well, we gave it our best! I want to thank all of the people who have been with us from the very beginning. It has been honestly so humbling to receive such support from so many folks.To sit in our headquarters and see multiple people walk in every hour to ask what they can do to help is so humbling. I know Democrats don't usually get a lot of love around here, but I want to thank the members of the Democratic Party here in Stanly and Montgomery County; they are such great people with such heavy hearts.

I want to congratulate Justin Burr on his election to a 5th term in the NC House. Even in the year of an outsider for President, the people of the 67th District have decided to keep a political insider in Raleigh. For the sake of our schools and our local economy, I urge him to take many of the sentiments that people shared in the hard fought primary and general elections. I offer my support and my willingness to build a better government for us all.

Well, here we are. 20 minutes away from the polls opening for the last time in this election. It's been a heck of the time, and I've met so many great individuals and seen some truly remarkable areas of Stanly and Montgomery County. Thank you to all of you who have supported me, and an even bigger thanks to those who have taken time to knock on doors for our campaign, or make calls, or have brought bottled waters to our headquarters.

This election is clear as day: a vote for me is a vote to repeal the destruction that Justin Burr has done, especially to Stanly County. First, I'll repeal his bill that made our school board elections partisan. Then, I'll work with community leaders to try to get municipal broadband networks and the culinary school back to our area. I'll stop this crude tradition of stacking the county commissioners, and no more interfering in Norwood's government. For Montgomery county, with me in Raleigh, you won't find out about disastrous water deals in the newspapers; I'll attempt to be as transparent as possible.

For everything else, well, I'm going to Raleigh to represent you, so you tell me what you want and need. My door will be open to everyone. I hope to have your support today, and I ask for your vote. Thank you.

Every morning, I pull my pants up and go to work just like everyone else. I'm running for the NC House because we need new leadership in Raleigh. We need leadership who focuses on people, not political parties. I would appreciate your vote.

Great luncheon with the retired educators of Stanly County. It was a pleasant surprise to see so many of my own teachers from when I went to Badin Elementary. The food was great, and so was the conversation. I appreciate the invitation to join!
