✨ A special visit to the IAC ✨

We were honored to welcome Michael La Rue, a close friend of Nall’s for many years, to the IAC. Michael brought with him a collection of special photographs and memories from his friendship with the artist.
Among them was a photograph Michael took of Lucy Hollis, Nall’s grandmother, in his Vence, France studio in 1991—the day of Nall’s nuptials.

In a wonderful moment of connection across time, we were able to recreate that photograph with Michael at the IAC in 2026.

Featured behind Lucy and Michael is Nall’s magnificent “Elbow Grease” (1990), a visitor favorite in the IAC’s Nall Gallery.
The title alludes to both the work ethic and the time and effort invested in creating the piece.

Moments like this bring the stories behind the artwork to life and remind us that an artist’s legacy lives not only through the work, but through the people and memories connected to it.
