Meet our playwright for the upcoming production of TEEN DAD! 🎸🥁🏖️🌊

Adrienne Dawes (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based playwright, screenwriter, and producer originally from Austin, TX. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and Second City Chicago, Adrienne writes funny-sad plays about fluid identity, found families, and all the silly ways we try to find love and acceptance. Her work has been produced by Salt Lake Acting Company, Sacred Fools, and Salvage Vanguard Theater; just before the 2023 WGA writer' strike, she staffed on a limited series with Hulu/ABC Signature (EP: Ellen Pompeo). We are thrilled to welcome back former Passage Theatre Artistic Director C. Ryanne Domingues and frequent collaborator and friend of the company Richard Bradford to co-lead this incredible cast.

Join us for one more performance tomorrow night, July 18 at 7:30, of SOJOURNER, a one-woman show written by Richard LaMonte Pierce and performed by Zuhairah.

Zuhairah plays Sojourner Truth, the abolitionist, women’s rights activist and author who was born into slavery and eventually became a confidante to Abraham Lincoln and master debater with Frederick Douglass. Now quite old, Sojourner Truth tells the story of her enslavement not in the American South, but in the North, as well as her dramatic escape and subsequent fight to tear down slavery across the country. This devastating yet inspiring tale provides a compelling and personal lens into pre-Civil War America and Sojourner Truth’s extraordinary life.
