Annnddd...(drum roll here) that's a wrap! The final set of the Art4Libraries community mural weaving's are installed in Trenton! What a joyous adventure this massive collaboration has been. To all the participants, library managers, and my pal and colleague, Claire Vassort, I couldn't have chosen better partners for this fun and lively project. Your grace, talent and patience are greatly appreciated as well. Be sure to go by and see the culmination of your efforts and view how beautifully your communities are woven together in color and strength.

A special thanks to the Georgia Council for the Arts and the Lyndhurst Foundation for their generous funding to make this project happen, and to the Cherokee Regional Library System for their foresight and leadership in our joint endeavors.

Wishing you all the very best,
Anna Carll & Claire Vassort

Woohoo!!! The Trenton community mural weaving's will be stitched together today and installed tomorrow! What an adventure its been working with all the library communities in the Cherokee Regional Library System. The amount of talent that's been displayed in this project has delighted and humbled me.

Stay tuned for the final install shots of this wonderful project that I've shared with my pal and colleague, Claire Vassort—we're the 2CREATE Team. I couldn't have asked for better partners in this project and I am thrilled and somewhat sad to be wrapping this journey up.

All the best,

Woohoo! All the Trenton A4L collages have been triaged (fully glued down) & top-coated, paired top-to-bottom and glued together to create the paper columns that will now be cut into strips. The next step then will be to rearrange and do the reconciliation process—who knows where the sections will end up! This process is intuitive, and to me, the most fun part of the weaving's.

Stay tuned for the final updates to this fabulous project. I have loved collaborating with my pal, Claire Vassort, and all the library communities in northwest Georgia. Thanks to all those who have participated!

Good morning! I'm heading into the final phase of these two gorgeous community mural weaving's for the Rossville Public Library. The weft is in place and today I'll do the punch out—this is where I make the holes for the stitching process and tomorrow I'll be stitching these together for an installation next week! So stay tuned...the final batch of weaving's are the Trenton Public Library's collages and I can't wait to get those started...

Good morning! Just a quick update—I'll be installing the Chickamauga community mural weaving's tomorrow just in time for the July 4th holiday. The Rossville collages have been reduced to a pile of strips and after the holiday I'll be rearranging and re-imagining them into the final compositions. I'm so excited to work with the beautiful pieces that the Rossville community produced for the A4L project—such talented folks! So stay tuned...

Panoramic Mania! All the horizontal weaving's for Chickamauga Public Library are rearranged & re-imagined in preparation to add the weft strands. These beautiful panoramic pieces are the result of the Collage Your Way Classes where the library community of Chickamauga stepped up to the plate and produced these collages for me to weave together. I'm so honored to have worked with this talented community and hope to have these pieces finished and installed next week.

So stay tuned for more exciting progress!

Rearranged & re-imagined! Here is a bit about the weaving process—once the collages from the Collage Your Way classes have been top-coated, cut into strips, sand the edges, stain those edges and rearrange the strips, I start the reconciliation process. This is where I add elements to the piece merging each collage together so that it looks like one cohesive piece. In this shot you can see the taping of the elements in place before I glue them down to the surface to prepare for the final top coat and add the weft strands for stitching. This is where I look critically at each piece and make sure all the colors and shapes are balanced and harmonious.

I'm so honored to work with such a talented community in Chickamauga and to collaborate on these incredible community mural weaving's. My colleague, Claire Vassort has helped to make this journey exciting and fulfilling.

All the best,
Anna Carll

EXCITING NEWS!!! I've made excellent progress this week on the Chickamauga Library weaving's. Three of the horizontal pieces base art is complete and ready for the weft strands. I've decided to go with the beautiful ochre yellow/gold color again as this will highlight the blue background really well. There are six of the horizontals for the upper soffit wall to the right of the main entry hall up on my panel wall that I'll be finishing the base art on this weekend and a larger one for the computer area that is next up after the horizontals. As you can see, the extreme horizontals make for wonderful panoramic views of the incredible imaginary world of the Chickamauga library participants.

So stay tuned for more progress shots next week! If you remember, these are from the Collage Your Way classes produced by the talented Chickamauga community this past February & March along with my 2CREATE partner, Claire Vassort, who taught the Silky Way classes and has already installed the gorgeous banners in the library.

All the best,
Anna Carll
