We teach regular classes by donation only and we still do private lessons and events!

This Wednesday the 10th, I am offering a pre holiday de-stress class - and we will do a little preemptive strike on the seasonal feasting! Slow warm up, beginner level calorie burn, a little strength and flexibility. Learn some tips to get you through the holidays! Creekside Community Church gym, 5:00-5:50pm. Donation appreciated. Women are great at adapting and overcoming, am I right?

The fall session is changing a bit, due to my own physical limitations. But I think you’re going to love it. Instead of teaching you how to bellydance, we will be using the core movements to build strength and increase flexibility. So for those of you who are committed to dancing, you will be sharpening your techniques by targeting specific muscles. Those of you who arent so much interested in dance will get a unique workout that will make you feel like you’ve been to the gym - but with glitter.

Shimmy, Strength, and Stretch will be a win for everyone! 5pm Wednesdays through Nov 12 (though we may add an additional week) at Creekside Community Church. Cost is donation $5-$10, whatever you would like to contribute!

Yesterday's Leelanau Uncaged event was truly fabulous. The perfect weather, with warm sunshine and a refreshing breeze, set the tone for a fantastic day. The crowd's energy was inspiring. We sold a lot of shiny things and engaged in lots of shenanigans.

It's no wonder Uncaged is one of our favorite festivals - it's a celebration of community and joy with lots of fun, artistic people just like us! This was our tenth year being at the festival and by far our favorite. Already looking forward to next year!

Calling all shiny people! Dancers and drummers will once again be at Leelanau Uncaged on Sept 27th! We will participate in the water blessing at 11am, followed by the parade, and a performance with the Blue Water Samba band at the arch.

But wait, there’s more! We will also have a Belly Booth from 12-4, where we will give mini lessons for donations and sell our shiny stuff. If you like glitter, spangles, costuming, bohemian clothing, and funky chunky jewelry, you’re going to want to visit us! **UPDATE! OUR BELLY BOOTH WILL BE LOCATED NEAR THE KIDS’ TENT ON MILL STREET**

***All proceeds will benefit our former troupe member KAT, who is undergoing treatment for advanced cancer.***

We are seeking people to dress up shiny and walk in the parade, hang out with us in our booth, and be part of something fun and fabulous! If you have any shiny or boho clothing you’d like to donate, we would be grateful to add it to the booth. Come see us!

This is a light workout style class including flexibility, so please bring a yoga mat if you have one!

Happy Back to School!! We are offering a new Shimmy and Shenanigans workout class for beginners to intermediates of all ages and abilities, starting September 10.

What, you say? A workout where we get to wear shiny things while we shimmy and sweat? Woohoo- count me in!! We will warm up, shake things up, strengthen up, then lengthen up. You may find a yoga mat helpful if you have one.

Creekside Community Church gym, 5-5:50pm. Wednesdays Sept 10,17, 24, and Oct 8 -Nov 19. (If you’re taking the Alpha or Keys to Freedom faith based classes at 6:30, this would be great fun to do beforehand!) Shimmy and Shenanigans is donation based. Suggested $5-$10, whatever is affordable. ❤️

I don’t usually specifically call someone out on the internet. Most of the time, its like throwing pearls before swine anyway. But after twenty years of teaching, I am still appalled when someone shows such abject ignorance and disrespect regarding the art form I have loved for so long. Not only is Eileen putting out false information, but she posted bad reviews for not only Bee Well - where the art is being taught- but for all neighboring businesses as well.

This is quite literally a teaching moment. And if someone is willing to put their name on something false,malicious, and vile, then let them be taught by people who know better.

Also, please send Chelsey all the encouragement and applause. It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone to teach empowerment and body autonomy to the next generation of young people.

Ps. I will put my counter review in the comments. In the meantime, sign your kiddos up for classes at Bee Well, and visit The Folded Leaf, Dana C Fear, and Wool and Honey in downtown Cedar!
