Create your own custom stamp from carving a pink eraser! 2 erasers (1 for practicing and 1 for your final design!), 1 linocut tool with 5 cutter tips, a black ink pad, and a small rug grip will be yours to keep! Papers and pencils will be provided to use during class.

When: Saturday, April 26th, 2-4pm

Taught by: Jenelle Thomas

$60/ per person

The love of linocut entered stage left in the summer of ‘23 when I brought a box of pink erasers and a speedball cutting tool on vacation, igniting a dormant spark that had taken a very long nap during the years spent raising my boys. My artistic flair is a wildly eclectic compound which you will see reflected in the wide range of subject matter in my available prints.

As I am still navigating the world of linocut, I’ve come to embrace the flaws and revel in the ordinary defects of art that make each work unique. Learning is a ceaseless adventure filled with triumphs and catastrophes–and a lot of humdrum in the middle. Let me show you the glimmers I’ve found in the chaos.

Stop Cop City: Imaginary Crimes Tour

61 people are facing RICO trials in Atlanta for alleged involvement in resistance to the construction of Cop City, a massive police training facility. This project would destroy hundreds of acres of the beloved Weelaunee Forest, one of the largest urban forests in the country. The State uses imaginary associations and crimes, framed as RICO, as a means to break solidarity and momentum when movements are strong. Anti-repression is a response that uses an alternate imagination to strengthen solidarity and resistance.

In Spring 2025, a nationwide tour will visit over 60 cities to discuss the history of the Atlanta forest, the resistance to Cop City, history of RICO, ongoing legal updates and facilitate discussions on anti-repression and movement defense. Through this tour we aim to share the lessons we have learned across struggles, and adapt to the evolving repressive forces so that we can continue to move bravely together.⁩

You’ll be learning step by step on how to dyeing Easter eggs with onion skins.

When: Monday, April 14th, 6-8pm
$20/ per person

Taught by: Amy Spitzley

My credentials for this class are Schueneman genes. My mom’s family always did this Easter egg method. I suspect it came down from the European German/French ancestry though I don’t know for sure. The artsy side of me comes from that family, too—my great-grandma was an artist, my great-aunt was an art teacher, and my aunt is a seamstress. I tend to work mostly in mixed-media myself, but these eggs always give me fond childhood vibes!

Explore the traditional art of decorating eggs in the Ukrainian style known as Pysanky. The wax-resist process, similar to batik, uses a simple tool to apply wax to the shell of a fresh chicken egg, followed by multiple layers of colorful dyes. When the pattern is complete the wax is removed to reveal a beautiful design. Join Brandy and discover the magic of creating these small works of art. Learn about the history of this medium, see examples of her eggs.
