If you have been following my work, you know I am endlessly fascinated by landscapes and the natural world. But over the past few years, Iâve also been exploring a different kind of environment: the digital âmediascapesâ that we increasingly inhabit.
Today, I am so excited to share the most ambitious painting to emerge from this ongoing series. Meet đđ°đ°đŻđ´đŠđ°đľ. đ
Composed of 331,776 individually-painted dots and requiring over 300 hours of studio time, this piece was a sustained, full-time commitment to realize. It presents a âdown-rezzedâ interpretation of Neil Armstrongâs iconic Apollo 11 lunar self-portrait, overlaid with classic video game elements like a health meter. Itâs a space-age portrait for the digital age, exploring the tension between monumental human exploration and the vicarious experiences offered by our screens.
Measuring 6 foot square, the surface is designed to immerse you in the sceneâinviting you to step in and imagine yourself casting that iconic astronaut shadow.
And in just a few days, it makes its public debut.
I am incredibly honored to announce that đđ°đ°đŻđ´đŠđ°đľ is an official entry in ArtPrize 2026! If you are in Michigan over the next few weeks, I would love for you to come see it in person and, if it resonates with you, cast a vote.
