Grand Traverse County. Maybe I'm just late to the game but I just went to renew my Body Art Operator license and realized it's no longer a requirement to be licensed in the county. I love freedom and minimal regulation where it makes sense, but this blows my mind.

Literally anyone can walk into a tattoo studio, with a bloodborne pathogens certificate and say they are a tattooer.

The training wasn't ever a requirement, but it feels crazy not even having people have to hold a license to tattoo.

Maybe it's just me, and that's ok. But if you're a consumer, I suggest you pay a little more attention when selecting your artist before you get that ink.

This tattoo meant a lot for a ton of reasons. A tribute to a fallen sister, mother, advocate, protector, and friend to so many. It's always an honor to be trusted to pay tribute to loved ones, but this was a special experience.
