Braydon Morrow finished up our weekend by getting back in the money at a UPRA rodeo in Wichita Falls, TX. We made a few adjustments this past week after we identified a problem in the last several rides and boy did it pay off. This ride was 71 points which was good enough for second place and a nice payday. We are gonna get some rest today and then get to preparing for next weekend. All 3 should be back in action Friday chasing their rodeo dreams.

Maycee Hicks is starting to really roll and even won her first check on Bugzie. She also made her first run in her new saddle (more on that later). Korie Brileyann cruised Reno again and looks to be right on track to make her rodeo return next Friday. She picked a bad line in but that was in part due to making sure Reno did not get in the mess that was the right side of the alley way. Braydon Morrow headed to Wichita Falls for another UPRA rodeo this morning and is hoping to get his ride in before the weather gets rough.

They are called equine partners so let’s treat them that way. Put the money into making sure they are feeling their best if you want them to perform with you.

Why is “Maintenance” such a dirty word?

“No Maintenance” is NOT A FLEX.

I cringe when I see 18 year old rope horses for sale that say “no maintenance required”. 🥴

Or when people come shopping for their next partner, and want one that will “never need any maintenance”🤦🏼‍♀️
🚩🚩🚩I don’t want to sell you my horse anyway!

If you have any kind of performance horse.
It. Requires. Maintenance.

If you are regularly putting the strain of riding and performing on your horse then it is also your duty to ensure that your horse is properly cared for and maintained. That means supplements, injections, chiro, body work/massage, regular shoeing, teeth floated, shockwave, etc.

Saying you want “No Maintenance” is like saying you don’t want to change the oil in your truck.

These horses will give everything they can. Maintaining them is the least we should do.

Do I like the maintenance bills? NO, but it’s a part of the equation.

There is no such thing as a performance horse that requires ‘No maintenance’. It just means that who ever currently owns it, is neglecting their maintenance.

Today we leave the semi tame horses behind and head to a rodeo. The girls are busy this weekend with Korie Brileyann off working with 870Sports this week and Maycee Hicks at church camp. Braydon Morrow will pick up the slack though and keep the rodeo road warm for them.

Thanks for taking care of our girls during your time with us Frenchie. We learned valuable lessons with you even though not all of them were happy lessons. You made us laugh, cry, cheer, and literally jump for joy. You showed us what a good horse can do for confidence and helped both girls take huge steps forward. We say goodbye but we will be sure to follow along and watch you do the same for your next rider.

Our rodeo got cancelled today due to the rain so instead we practice and get some work done around the farm and barn. Korie Brileyann and Maycee Hicks got their horses exercised and Braydon Morrow got some spur board and dummy practice in. It was a productive day even though we were disappointed we didn’t get to rodeo.
